You post on a public forum and then get all pissed off when someone doesn't respond the way you want. If you're afraid of honest opinions, I would avoid posting in the first place

I'm not pissed. It's just annoying when people who drive hybrids who aren't into performance upgrades go out of their way to comment on something that doesn't concern them. I get it. You people bought hybrids to save on gas. I can afford gas and like going fast. We are not the same. Go find a hobby other than talking shit on the internet.

I feel the same way but towards owning a hybrid. Performance upgrades obviously aren't your thing so go cry your negative bullshit elsewhere.
Ooh, I love it! Just like the flame wars on the Dakota truck club, which I sold to buy my MAV. But you guys here aren’t as bad, yet 🤣

Well, you don't have any quantitative data that can prove any performance other than weight, but by the looks of the welds it may not lol.

If you're happy that's cool. You did break a federal law (I work for the EPA at the NVFEL).

I'm sure with a tune, downpipe, and items like that you'll for sure have gains as others have posted.

I just think it's funny you think you are making an upgrade.

In this day and age we all need a few laughs. So I'm not opposed to you posting.

Continue. Please.

Smoking weed is federally illegal too but in my state its legal to smoke weed so I did nothing wrong with removing a resonator even if it's federally illegal. I would assume you would know that seeing that you supposedly work for the epa

I do t believe that correct that is not a cat it is a resonator. It’s been posted before.
So he did not break a law because it’s not an emission part.
Not to mention a federal law that goes against the constitution. Do we have that.
At no time has congress ever voted on that regulation of emissions. This following the chevron case recently in the Supreme Court means that it also can those behind the clean air act either.
Didn’t wanna be that guy and his mod is not for me. But I understand his point.
Like your mom used to say about if you don’t have anything nice to say. Or something like that.

Same team man, I don’t write the regs I create the data in the dyno cell.

if that is an emissions device which form the pics on his last thread looked to be like some catalyst material (we have a new 25 maverick to test at work I’ll have to ask the Ford Rep) it breaks the clear air act. With the Chevron case it gets a little muddy but we will see how that plays out in application.

My mom did give me such advice as you mention above but I was also taught a crap job is a crap job (weld job)

lol ya that mom comment was not directed towards you specifically.
I would be interested in if that is an actual cat. To me the inside looks like it but it also been stated by the part identification and others it has no metals that act as a cat. Hence res. But without in hand I can’t be for sure either.
Do you happen to work in Detroit?
I know a few that do carb testing down that way.
I just had to play devils advocate. Plus I’m not sure I like the fact that this guy is clearly trying to enjoy his truck. Sometimes the tinkering part is what makes us love them. So tinker away. As for emissions. We all know that if someone digs into us enough we all probably do something someone else frowns upon. This it becomes a virtue signaling game. I want nothing. To do with judging others taste or mods.
I’m sure lots of people would like that mod. If not they wouldn’t make aftermarket anything.

I work in Ann Arbor at the EPA NVFEL on Plymouth road.

When the ford rep comes in I’m going to ask about that part.

I’m all for tinkering and mods but if you do a shit job…I also do car stereo and remote start installs and I see crap work all the time. At least we don’t have jeeps that crowd and their wiring is scary lol

This is the front resonator, everything I found on it , it’s strictly ceramic, no precious metals for nox conversion , only there to post cool the exhaust air.
the ba part number converters are the actual cat. This also has no o2 sensor near it or after it.

When speaking with ford yesterday this was confirmed.

i did the full monty here
https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...for-my-maverick-tremor-prerunner-build.48785/
Open 3” downpipe cat free , with antifouler on o2 sensor eliminated the secondary ceramic only resonator and also the factory muffler and little rear patch( square) resonator.
Had ordered the afe side exit for better off road clearance under rear diff( as i crushed factory pipe against the diff the 2nd week i had the truck on my first off road trail in tahoe.this setup with livernois tune i think is good for about 30-35hp , but more on the wheel torque on the butt dyno , as i can now do front wheel peels with the 32” mud terrains. But am curious with all the bickering now may have to take it to the dyno shop this week.
As far as i can tell the front resonator you removed is just that only ceramic in it for the heat no precious metals applied for converting nox .The part numbers with ba at the end are the cats worth money for the conversion . The secondary ceramic ones only quite and cool the exhaust to not have overtemp exhaust at the tips , a lot of ford diesels and any turbo cars have this issue . A lot of the weird tips and patch resonators added to depulse and introduce additional cool air in with the hot so the output temps lower slightly ( look at weird f350 tips ) .
Im not an exhaust engineer though but i dont think anyone else is on here either.
I can tell you i have not had a check engine light come on and the truck runs better than ever.
Where i have it registered and since it is mainly used off road , i am good with my choices . And since not everyone on here has ordered their ev pickup or car yet we are still polluting the same amount of gallons of fuel as before .
To be honest i am a little tired of sending my money twice a week to the middle east .
So i do have a couple tesla motors and a leaf motor and some lg batteries sitting around .
May be doing a conversion on a buggy or my tr7 with the corvette motor in it !
Too many projects , way too little time!
You're tired of sending money to the Middle East but you're against hybrids? I like a good performance upgrade as much as the next guy and I generally pee standing up unless I'm doing a number two at the same time but if you remove the catalytic converters you're not polluting the same as everybody else you're polluting a lot more. Also personally if I was going to go there performance route I would probably be more interested in a better engine to start with. No offense to Ford but there are a lot better motors to hop up than the 2.0 EcoBoost

Just remember it’s send to the Middle East, or money to china and unbelievable human rights violations. Oh don’t forget the pollution from strip mines and lithium. Bottom line is our choice is to abandon it all and let millions die in the process of abandoning power sources or we keep moving on and finding solutions to problems we encounter.

Oh or we could drill our own oil and go that route.
Yes I'm going to go change the points on my Hudson hornet any minute now. But seriously you do realize that you're just pointing out flaws in something you don't like as a reason to discount it as a possibility. Who cares about human rights violations over there? Do you? I don't want to tell other countries how to run their affairs. You don't think there are human rights violations in the Middle East where a lot of oil comes from? I don't know anybody again who's reasonable who's saying get rid of all gasoline 3 weeks ago and everything will be perfect. That's why they call it a transition. If you guys were around 100 years ago or so you'd be calling for the elimination of light bulbs to keep around the tried and true whale oil lamps and candles....
Are you talking about the pollution from strip mines for coal? I think the solution would be to sanction other countries with human rights violations or do what is actually being done finding ways to make batteries without those materials or mine them from countries like Canada. Yeah most people want both power sources , I like a good, well-tuned gas engine myself but that doesn't mean I think it's going to stay that way for a thousand years. Things change. A generation or two from now if the big three take your advice will all be driving Chinese junk
Oh and for the record we do drill for our own oil. The last 3 years or so I believe the United States was the leading oil producer on Earth surpassing Saudi Arabia and russia.

Yeah I mean it's not a performance engine, I get people being bored and wanting to tinker but this is the old putting lipstick on a pig imo
