Another MX4 equipped Mav here, it should look like this, as others posted.

OPs hardware looks strange. Maybe the wrong kit, or a revision?

That smaller panel on mine uses a stout plastic clamp on either side. They’re inserted into aluminum slots mounted to the underside. With the clamp loose, they slide over to the underside and engage the rails.

label on the box denotes it’s an MX4. If mine is a revision, it’s certainly not for the better.

Thanks, did not know they changed the design.

That's definitely a revision of the design. The earlier MX4 had bolts that went down through the top of the cover, no plastic retaining clips like that.

Same issue with the Undercover Ultra Flex - Fits 2022-2023 Ford Maverick 4' 5" Bed
Rails and clamps changed and not easy to install.

I have the same product under the Ford logo, and it works well. I let the dealership install it as I had a 50% off coupon for "service." Ford sent the part to my local dealership for free (not all dealerships participate in this). Took a cross-country trip with a lot of rain in April, and things stayed mostly dry. I am very happy with it :)

The Ford branded tri-fold is base on the much older G2 cover.

Reached out to RealTruck to inquire about this. Managed to get my cover installed but was definitely a pain. Took about 3 hours when it should’ve taken 1 max. Noticed clamps and rails were different everywhere. 2024 Lariat Hybrid for reference.

Probably engineered improvement (cutting costs while cutting quality).

Day 2 of trying to get the rails straight and perpendicular…

I’ve tried with the clamp bolt heads facing the wall of the bed (as per directions), I’ve tried with them facing the inside of the bed. I’ve tried without spacers (none included), and I’ve tried with homemade cut from a silicone bread pan.

My wife has helped with holding the rails as instructed. Nothing works.

The rails look to be of a smaller profile than what I’ve seen in videos.

Has anyone else encountered these issues, and what were the workarounds?

I just installed the exact same rails and had the same problem. The bolt heads need to face the inside of the bed. I had to lightly hammer the clips into the rail to seat them properly in the grooves. After that I had no problem getting the rails straight.

@JPinPA

I received my MX4 on Saturday and have spent a grand total of 4 hours trying to install it. I am pretty handy, but I am at my freaking wits end. No matter what I try, the rails lean inward. I have tried using rubber spacers to force it into position, faced the clamps both ways (inwards and outwards), and had my wife hold it in place while I carefully tightened it. I'm honestly on the verge of returning it, but returning something that large is a royal pain. Any advice you can share? My clamps look just like the ones you posted, not the original ones. Would you mind sending a close up picture of your clamps installed? I'm curious why the clamps can sit in two positions. I plan to call RealTruck tomorrow to complain. Something this expensive shouldn't be this poorly engineered.
