I do of course mean on a permanent basis, not temporarily, as I am installing a CB antenna in it's place, but I wonder, with the smarts inside the antenna housing that others have shown, whether anything is going to freak out. I have already removed the fuse for the telematics module, so I won't be needing it for that, and I don't listen to terrestrial radio or XM.

I am not exactly sure what I’m seeing in your picture, did you replace the factory shark fin with an aftermarket unit? One that does not have all the same connections as the factory unit?

My current plan is to leave all of those connections vacant, since I don't use the factory radio

Got you now, I just replaced for a shorter one, but you won't have a issue for sure

Dealer forgot to put mine on. It's still in the glovebox in the bag it came in lol. Like the looks of it without the RC car looking antenna on top.

Picture, now that it’s installed-ish. (Going to fab some braces to the middle roof support, because on my versa the same antenna twists the roof visibly)

I reused the existing hole for the center conductor, and drilled 4 fresh for the puck. Breedlove #602 puck mount, if anyone is interested

Funny how we can read the same things different.
Perspective/perception?

I thought OP was referring to remove the entire antenna
(not just the screw in whip) and put a CB Ant. in the OEM spot.
No, I caught what he meant. The complete removal.
I believe there is a large hole to fill in the process.
I remember seeing some photos of a Maverick body pre-primer/paint. Let me see if I those at hand. I am on my phone right now..

Is the receiver for keyless entry there or farther back?

I removed the antenna, since the entrance to my garage is rather low. I listen to SiriusXM radio, and don't have a problem without the antenna.

I didn't know people still put CBs in private vehicles. Is it very popular now days?
Not as much as it was, but were I ever to get licensed, simply removing the spring retunes it to 10m, which is still rather popular

I won’t know until we get a good rain, but there is a neoprene gasket slathered in sealant sandwiched between the puck and the roof, and my Versa which has the same antenna and mount hasn’t leaked in over a year, and that with the roof flexing rather wildly. I can always do a quick spot check since this is right next to the rear dome light.
