Something about the nag screen finally reminded me of something I recall from a while back. So I did some surfing around and found this:
”I have Nav in Motion enabled via FORScan. Apparently, the setting allows Nav entry, text viewing, USB drive browse and full contact search (new to me).”
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1657998-sync3-contact-list-limitations.html#post19818577

While no Mav as Nav, I wonder if that setting is in there anyway.
Something to at least try.

I love when computers think for you. The bottom line is that Ford would for sure be sued if there was an accident because someone was changing the radio
My Garmin GPS units have a warning screen that comes on as soon as it boots up and I have to hit okay to agree so I can use the GPS. All Ford has to do is the same thing. Put a warning screen that you have to hit okay (and thus assume liability) when you go into audio mode. What is the sense of even having an audio system if you can not even use it when driving? Makes absolutely no sense. Really sours my experience with my Maverick. It's like having a car from the 1950's where all you had was an AM radio and you had no choice of what music you wanted to listen to. You listened to whatever songs the radio DJ decided to play. Same deal. I get to listen to whatever album I choose before I start driving and then tough luck, I either keep playing the same album over and over or turn the audio off after it's done and hum to myself until I pull over some where or get to my destination. GOOD JOB FORD. I guess if I want to listen to music on my road trips I will have to take an Mp3 player and wear headphones.

You could buy a cheap phone (with no actual phone plan or anything), and treat it purely as a replacement for your usb drive. That would let you play your music via bluetooth.

I was just going to say this. Find one that has Bluetooth and just put music on it. Literally use it as a mp3 player. I imagine plenty of cheap androids could full this role well.

Does Waze really block other people? I can still search on Waze through AA all the time. It's usually the completely nerfed Tidal app that gets on my nerves but I just use voice commands to search on that. For USB I haven't found any workarounds yet. Just keep hitting skip. I really am unhappy with the infotainment on these though. Windows 95 graphics, slow, lags when turning down volume, and the stupid safety pause is the killer for real. Did it dawn on them that less crappy software that was more responsive and useful would get us off the screen faster. The safety pause inherently makes you take longer to finish what your doing or as some of you mentioned, just pick up your phone anyway which is more distracting. I'm already thinking of going aftermarket somehow. The stock radio is just trash.

There actually IS a fix for this, using Forscan. In another similar thread, look for an Oct 21, 2023 post from Don Keedick. It worked on my '23 XLT and I am forever grateful for his instructions.
