I have the ecoboost so not a hybrid like yours but I do have to say that there are more relays clicking on this truck compared to any vehicle I have had before.
Even after sitting for a day with out touching the truck I was in the garage working on a project and I head some relays click.

Use the search here for "clicking" and you'll find a lot of results about it - it's normal hybrid processes at work. Some say if you double lock it (make the horn honk), that will suspend several of those and you'll get less noises.

I've tried that, doesn't seem to make much difference.

The computer is still doing weird things quite frequently. I think if I leave the fob in my pocket when I go through the garage it starts getting ready to drive again- if I leave the fob in the house it doesn't do quite as much clicking.

According to one of the maverick's engineers, the clicking sound the hybrid makes after turning off is the sounds of pathways opening and closing, with coolant being circulated to all parts of the battery to cool it down. I'd imagine it's done to prolong the longevity of the components, a common theme with the maverick hybrid.

I tried taking a nap, sitting in my truck-

The clicking noises made it impossible...

The insanity of it all = if you want to sleep in your truck and lock it you must remember to disable the anti theft alarm. I am not sure if it won't lock the doors or when you move the 2000 DB ALARM will cause you to have a heart attack?

Real life observations do not support the fluids moving around theory. It's electrical contacts. But purpose?

I have the clicking too. I just thought it was haunted and hoping it was a friendly ghost like Casper.

I doubt there are ANY mechanical relays in there; it's all done by solid-state components like MOSFETS. Most likely, the system is running some EPA-mandated test on the EVAP system that pressure tests the fuel tank, and all that clicking is from solenoid valves. Sadly, the workshop manual does not describe the designed operation of these arcane systems in enough detail to fully understand any of them.

I took delivery of our three weeks ago and it clicks all the time. I was washing the wheels and it went through a clicking tantrum with every wheel cleaning. My main complaint is the drivers door keeps locking on me. Of course dealer has never heard of this issue. Overall I absolutely love our Maverick XLT Hybrid.

unfortunately you will probably know more about the Mav (especially if you're a MTC member) than the majority of salespeople at most dealerships. sad, but true IMHO.

Ta-Da, the clicking is building a database that will allow the government to keep a check on the drivers. After it has reached a point it will be able to issue parking and speed tickets automatically! 🤓
