Yeah, I figured that’s how they calculate the 101mpge. Not bad for daily driving rather than a full EV. Had a Mach E last yr and it’s a chore to keep up with the charging but really sux on out of town trips. At least this Phev is a quick charge up for the smaller battery.

The Maverick hybrid plugs in as well? If it does that’s something I wasn’t where of.
NO. The Maverick is NOT PHEV, standard Hybrid.

If there was a carnival kiddie ride called "Pickup Truck," The Maverick would be that truck. It looks like a truck, you see a big hood out of the windshield just like a real truck, the tailgate slams just like a real truck, but the interior is a "fun color" blue like a kiddie ride should be. And the hybrid whirs around like you'd expect a carnival ride to.
Wheeeeee, gotta put on my big RED rubber nose and blue afro wig next time I drive my Mav!! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Hi Bob Where are you having the bed liner sprayed in? at the For dealer? I think I bought at nice Lariat that was refused... it has everything I wanted except a sunroof and a Berliner and tonneau cover... I can't understand why the dealer did not offer those to me as part of the purchase.. to install afterward... I am just confused... all they wanted to do was sell me wheel locks and clear decals... I also feel like the sound dampening is not as robust as the escape... and god... why have a pick up truck without a rear seat that folds flat? besides the fact that the rear seat is only big enough to accommodate children or smaller people! I am not a fan of front wheel drive... but I like the mileage and utility of the rest of the truck! I just thought it would be higher up like an escape... I may get the lifters...
The bed liner is being applied to critical areas underneath the truck in what we deem to be areas that would be prone to direct spray off of the tires. Using rattle can DupliColor Premium grade bed liner. The detailer said for small hidden areas the DupliColor would be fine for what we are looking to do. I agreed. A little more cost effective as well.

The way the rear seat operates affects different folks different ways. Some hate it like yourself because it does not fold flat, others because it is not 60/40 which messes with those that have children in car seats. The way I look at it, it is my truck, so I will not be sitting back there. :ROFLMAO:

The Maverick will take 245 tires which will give you an instant 1" lift and the truck looks great with that size tire on it. Read the threads here about people lifting their trucks and having front axle problems with the increased geometry. Personally, I would stay away from that unless one has all the facilities to be changing them easily on their own as Ford will not warranty it.

Yes, this Escape is a PHEV. 90% of my driving is within 5 miles of home. Retired but drive school bus 1 mile from home. No need to go anywhere in nasty weather... schools cancel. And if I do need to use the gas engine, it is the same as the Maverick...about 40 mpg. Call me cheap, but even though I would have only been financing 8-10k, paying 6-7% interest is a huge turn off. I traded in a 2021 F-150 Lariat that had 0%. I considered just keeping the F-150 (really nice truck) but I only used the bed once in the 2 years that I had it. Thanks for your comments though.
I totally agree with you. I refused to finance for the 5.9% I was offered. I would never buy a new car even if I needed one desperately for that rate. And to boot - most people do it for 7 years! That almost $5k over at $30k!

But the PHEV is what I expected with the MPG you were stating. Is it a AWD one?

Unfortunately, the IRS dropped Ford's PHEV's from the tax rebate because Ford's batteries aren't certified to be made in the U.S. That is a reason they want to build a battery factory here, but they don't want it unionized.
Yea, and Jim said paying workers more would make his company "unsustainable"... Wouldn't want those upper level execs to sacrifice a single vacation home to pay the work force what they deserve...

Well, ok. I’m not concerned about those issues, and I doubt a Maverick, escape or any other mainstream vehicle will fare any worse or better regarding the road salt. But bottom line you did what makes you comfortable, and that’s all good. Enjoy the new ride!

After waiting 13 months for my 23 Maverick Hybrid Lariat, I refused acceptance. The reasons: 1) After reading the article regarding what Ford did to produce it at that price was primary. By not E-coating body parts, it will rust in Northern Ohio. Other components were dropped or cheapened including the muffler. 2) Even though I wouldn't be financing very much, FordCredit wanted more than the banks. 3) On arrival, they told me that the radio did not work, which required replacing the entire touch screen.

I did drive it (without the touchscreen), and I have to admit, I liked the way it handled.

Instead, the dealership had a plug-in hybrid Escape Platinum....101 mpg in the city....

Enjoy your Mavericks everyone, I love seeing them on the road, but I guess I want more than what they offer.

Good decision. The Maverick WAS cool when it was actually $19,999 (starting).

You have to weigh whether a 36-39mpg truck with limited features and an outdated screen + infotainment system with a bad reputation for reliability is more worth it than a 25mpg truck (new Tacoma, Chevy Colorado) for a couple thousand more packed with new technology and a better reliability reputation. AND Toyota and Chevy are just overall better companies to do business with.

Another person that shouldn't be allowed to order a Maverick. In what world does an Escape get 101 mpg - are you delusional? Name any car that does.
Why do you think the rust proofing is any different on an Escape? I've lived in the plains states all my life and never had a car rust.
And you took an order slot or a Maverick from someone else that has been waiting.

Rochester New York says everybody stop arguing about the road salt we are the kings. There’s so much road out here. You can taste it when you walk around the street we pick it up and put it on our garbage plates later on. No place in the country does road salt and destruction of cars like Rochester and Buffalo New York. You’re welcome.

It doesn't. It's MPGe ("equivalent"), which is a way to try to compare EV efficiency with gas vehicles. 2023 Escape PHEV gets 40 mpg combined running on gas, which is about the same as a non-PHEV 2023 Escape Hybrid.

I believe that! Last time I was in Buffalo I remember everything just being coated in white rock salt dust. I'm in Albany and they use a ton of road salt here but I still think Buffalo is the road salt king. Some areas North of here have been trying to use less because it messes up the eco system of lakes and streams.

Well then, sounds like we all agree to disagree. :ROFLMAO:
I would trade you guys for the acid rain and constant salt air in Honolulu that ate up my paint on my last car, the Mav is under a truck cover in a garage.

Well, for about 30 miles, it’s 105mpg and then it’s the same as the Maverick Hybrid, about 42mpg. I do look forward to a future PHEV Maverick.

My PHEV Escape so far is averaging 99.9...it hasn't used any gas yet, just battery...gas would be available if the battery goes dead....
....and I made a Maverick available to someone that couldn't get in while the order banks were open, but thanks for your comment.
