Yep. I don't mind spending a few dollars if it increases the chances to avoid another collision...

I feel your pain. I've lost two company vehicles totaled due to people sailing in, sending me into the car ahead. Both times I won a broken rib as a reminder. Twice also as a passenger with my Pappy. I feel a reflective sign that says. "HEY, ASSHOLE!" may be helpful.

Didn't you say the other Tacoma driver was likely drunk as they found beer cans in his vehicle?

To each their own but some reflective tape wasn't going to stop him from rear-ending you.

Sorry for your previous accident. I've been in the same rear end collisions; they are the most common type and are increasing in frequency.

That being said, I don't think adding fugly reflective commercial tape will help get the attention of someone staring at a screen instead of the road. That tape is so reflective, it may actually make the brake lights less noticeable, when they light up.

It's not unlike yard lights. If your home has perimeter lights that stay on all night, adding a motion light is not going to be as noticeable as a motion light that suddenly comes on, on a dark, unlighted home exterior.

I would second the idea of reflective letters. But I also have to add that you're mostly likely to be hit these days by somebody texting. They're not looking anyway.

I've always loved it when semis put reflective tape along the bottom of the rear bump bar. I wish the NHTSA would make OEMs do that. It would cost an OEM a few dollars to do something attractive. Just a thin horizontal line at the bottom of each bumper.

Around here it's not just getting rear ended. Nobody seems to get the concept of turning the lights on as it gets dark. So I'm as likely to rear end an invisible car as they are to rear end me.

There are clear (white) reflective dots that are close to invisible in daylight. Very popular on bikes & motorcycles...I used them for years and they lit up my motorcycle at night. Most people put them on the outside perimeter of the object (tail gate). The dots can be easily seen for 50 yards when headlights shine on them but otherwise nearly invisible. At night 50 yards can help the other guy see you before rear-ending you.

Amazon.com : RydeSafe Reflective Decals - Hexagon Kit - Large (White) : Cycling Safety Reflectors : Sports & Outdoors

If you can't find a link they are out there. As a last resort, I have used a 3-hole punch to make them out of white/clear regular reflective tape.

No way I’m putting reflective tape on mine! I agree that it will make it look like a ambulance!

Then why post here? I really don't get it. So many people posting on this thread w/out actually helping the OP. Posting just to say you don't like reflective tape?

Learning curve, new to MTC. I used to post like that too. Then I realized, why am I posting an "opposite opinion" comment to this thread when it's not helpful?

Sorry you feel I wasn’t being helpful, but I was giving my honest opinion.
