Red screw plug???

Walked out to the garage noticed this on the ground under my maverick can’t figure out what it’s for Google image search says it’s for power equipment or ice chest most specifically a razor side-by-side. I don’t have anything that would take this. Could it possibly have to do with plugging something IE the brake caliper. temporarily during my front CV driveshaft replacement I had that done at 56,800 miles. I’m now at 58,900 miles.

It's just a generic threaded plug, no real specific application. Probably originally from something hydraulic that got rebuilt judging by the black paint (they get installed before the part is spray painted) although they're handy to keep around for reuse. Unlikely it's directly related to your CV replacement since I can't imagine disconnecting the caliper hoses for that job.

If the plug was part of the Maverick, there would be fluid leaking, but it very likely isn't.
It looks like a small FLA battery cell cap as was mentioned.

The robot answer telling you it belongs to a specific vehicle should be advice taken with a ton of salt. Battery caps are not unique to any specific vehicle. Do you have a lawnmower or any other item that has (or had) a small battery? That's more likely.

Any components that significantly heat up or would be subjected to considerable pressure won't be sealed with a plastic cap.

I have seen many of those when selling parts.
Those can be found on new parts like hydralic power steering pumps, a/c lines, condenser, radiators, and other things that are painted black.
It could be an old plug the tech used to temporarily used to plug a hose during the axle replacement.

It looks like some sort of shipping plug to me. Could be from anywhere really, as long as all your fluids are good I wouldn’t worry. Could have got knocked in there during your maintenance and it finally rattled out right in your garage.?

Yes it was like 2 drops worth on it. Very clear. Rubbed my fingers Felt like brake fluid. But The very slightest smell of hydraulic fluid

It looks like some sort of shipping plug to me. Could be from anywhere really, as long as all your fluids are good I wouldn’t worry. Could have got knocked in there during your maintenance and it finally rattled out right in your garage.?

Thats what im thinking. Had to have been something to do with the CV axle replacements seems like a brake fluid or hydraulic fluid was on it. I have not been too impressed with this little truck. It’s needed way too many things for less than 60,000 miles.

Could that plug have been on your garage floor for awhile before you noticed?

If it is from your Maverick - seems odd it would fall off on your garage floor instead of
the 99.9% other places it could have fallen?

I’ve dropped nuts, bolts, tools, flashlights etc into my engine bay by accident. If they’re small - I’ll try to move them with a hanger etc to a hole in the plastic undercover so it will fall out onto garage floor. Anything before getting under truck to remove that dang cover!

Maybe that piece has been rolling silently around on the undercover and finally rolled out a hole as you came to a stop in garage?

No, I’m certain nothing. I own takes this plug. I had the skid plate off at 56,000 miles to do an oil change that’s when I noticed oil all over the inside of the skid plate so I took it to the dealership and they claimed it was CV axle boot grease but I think it’s a leaking transmission. They replaced the CV axles the slight shimmy on the highway around 40 mph went away and so did the surging when stopped with cold engine. Ill take pictures of what I believed to be the transmission leak soon.
