Going to eventually change my oil on hybrid. i know there are many T27 torx screws on plastic cover . thinking of getting cheap power tool to remove the torx screws. How much torque in inch pounds needed. Looking right now at cheap harbor freight cordless drills. I don't want to remove all those screws by hand.

I have air compressor and m,any air tools BUT I have to pull Mav way into back to use it so wanted something eletric easy to use to remove screws.

Is a cheap harbor freight good enough. it will be its only use . Or does it need to be an impact type tool. I can break them free by hand if needed.

Any low cost recommendations.

Shall I be the first to snarkily say you should use a ratchet then?

My cordless drill is too bulky and heavy with the Mav on ramps (I tried).

I removed and installed MINE by hand (ratchet).
A power tool might work for taking them off.
BUT!! Using that to install....
Some of the "Clips' that the bolts, screw into, are the "Tin-metal" type.
A friend had the dealership do the oil change on his Escape and the "Kid" stripped ALL of those clips... They (dealership) did not have enough of them in stock. Friend had to go back and have the shield installed later...

my old 3/8" Dewalt 18V battery drill with multiple impact torque settings. 3/8" ratchet to break the stubborn ones.

So as I read this is it safe to assume that all oil changes should be done by the dealer? If they screw something up they own it?

This is a deeper question than you may realize.

Cordless tools require a battery to work. Because the battery will always die when you really need it so you need a backup battery and of course a charger. Batteries are expensive and low quality batteries will drain faster, die sooner and generally be, well, cheap.

So if you want decent batteries it requires an investment of some money. To recoup that investment you can get other tools that take the same battery. Hence what you are really asking is what tool system should I buy? Cheap or no name tool brands won't last or offer the same variety of tools so you get shunted into looking at name brand stuff like Milwaukee or DeWalt.

Then you need to decide which battery system you want because they often offer more than one, for instance Milwaukee offers 12 v and 18 v systems which trade weight and size for power and drain time.

Personally, I went Milwaukee M12 because the cordless drill with the smaller battery is very lightweight and has all the features you could want. They have a complete line of tools including impact wrenches, etc.. Had it for over 10 years, beat the crap out of it and it's still running strong. And I can get replacement parts if something does break. (another issue with no-name tools).

The cordless drill has an adjustable collet that can be set to slip so you don't overtighten a nut or bury a drywall screw and two speeds for drilling or driving.

If you just want something quick and dirty get the walmart house brand and call it a day.
