So I called to schedule the 3 recalls I have, taillights, BCM PCM. The dealer stated they would need the car for 1-2 days depending on how loaded the sever being used. Is this typical? Can this be done my the owner at home?

Not something you can do yourself. However, most dealerships have a "mobile tech" that will come to your home to do the update. Supposedly will take an hour or two. The better ones will put a battery charger on your vehicle to make sure it does not go into battery-saver mode half-way into the update.

Might be related to the ransomware attack that happened.

I know that the Ford dealership that I worked at had really slow internet service which made installing new software extremely slow.

My brother still works there so I should ask him if it's improved.

I had all 4 recalls done in one day. They needed it all day, but it was done a few hours early. One to 2 days is a bit excessive.
I got my T3 bulbs from @LASFIT and now I am as good as new.

I also recommend using the Ford Mobile Service to get the updates done at your home/work location.

I used Five Star Ford of Dallas Ford Mobile Service as the dealer where I purchased my Maverick was not offering Ford Mobile Service.

Five Star Ford of Dallas Mobile Service

I had recalls 24S27 Body Control Module BCM Software Update, 24C01 Instrument Panel Cluster IPC Illumination and 23C41 Turn Signal Outage Detection Failure done.

It took about 1 1/2 hours with the longest being the 24C01 Instrument Panel Cluster IPC Illumination which was about an hour just for that one.

I was sure to mention that a charger needs to be hooked up when the updates were being done to prevent "Electrical Load Shedding" from possibly happening during software updates that could be catastrophic.

Electrical Load Shedding on Late-model Vehicles Explained

I also charged the 12 Volt battery to full 100% before the updates were done. The battery was at 26% charge before being charged.

The Tech who arrived did not have a charger as he stated that it was burnt out recently when jumping a vehicle at an auction which stated that it had electrical issues and was not able to get a replacement yet so he had a jumper system with a plug and cables from the front bumper of the Mobile Service Van that were attached to the Jump points under the hood. I was okay with that.

Talking to the tech I found out that the updated software was downloaded in real time from the Ford website to be sure that the latest updates are always installed.

All in all I was impressed with using Ford Mobile Service.

Had 2 of them done at my house, took them 20min max for each software update. No issues afterward either. Its a great option if you can get it. Also my dealer contacted me before I got the letter from Ford about the recall. Can't beat the Pro-Active service from my dealer Holman Ford in Maple Shade NJ.

One of the recalls on our ecoboost took about 20 minutes at the dealer. The other recall the dealer had a tech come to my wife's work and did it in the parking lot.that also took about 15 minutes.

Wow you folks that have the ability to get mobile service is awesome! I live in a rural area, my service dealership is only 20 minutes away. But it is a pain to drop off get a ride home and then back again.

I respect those who haven't had the recalls done yet. I really think that those who have had bad results after the recalls did not have the recalls done correctly but the mechanic who worked on their trucks. If the mechanics don't do it right, it can lead to other issues.

I've had all the necessary recalls done. No problems with my truck. The only thing I had to do was reset my keyfob to unlock all 4 doors on the first "click".

I have only had to drop my 24' Lariat Hybrid off for one recall - so far. Made the morning appointment a few weeks in advance. I knew it was a quick job based on Fords time allotment, so I came prepared (iPad) to sit and wait an hour or so. I was surprised when I was told they would need my truck all day.

I took the shuttle home and took my dog out for a walk. I was 20 minutes into my walk (maybe close to an hour from when I dropped it off) when I got the call from the dealership that my truck was ready for pickup. I called my wife and she picked me and the dog up and took me to the dealership...

It would be nice if they had a little better control on the timelines in the shop.
