I am looking at getting the Frost Fighter for my XL Maverick and I am wanting to know if anybody has gotten this, and if so what they think of it and lastly how was it to install. Moreover how was it to install the electrical part of the defroster not the defroster on the window itself.

Thanks,
Eric

Are you sure that you will actually need it? Never a problem with my 22.............

Maybe if you have a dog in the ???????
LOL. I am not in a place in my life were I can have a dog. The weather where I live in KY is just enough in all places that I would like the extra "insurance" as I will call it to have a defroster. So, is it like the end of the world if I don't have one? No, but most mods people do aren't what I call a need as it were anyway. I didn't need to put the plate behind the drivers side rear wheel well, but I think its going to extend the life of that area of the truck.

I was concerned about this as well when we went into the first winter with this vehicle. I thought at this point defrosters were mandated. (but perhaps not on trucks). However, my actual experience is that this has not been a problem. Hyper-ventilating dogs of course can create a lot of interior fog and nose prints on side windows.:like:

There is no federal or state statutes mandating rear window defrosters an automobiles or trucks.
Windshield defrosters were mandated back in 1968.

Well, thank goodness the industry didn't wait for statutes on the front. I really don't believe a vertical rear window really needs one most of the time. Occasionally, it would really be nice. I did spend my formative years in the Northern climates with out one just fine even on sloping rear windows. Today, with most folks having the ability to start and warm up the interior from inside the house, the requirement is even less IMO.

Yup, I was worried about it when I got mine as well and was ready to order one of the aftermarket add-on systems, but decided to wait and see how things went. After 3 years, I’ve never needed a rear window defroster, and we get our fair share of snow and frost in winter. I also found the heater clears the windows so fast the fogging isn’t an issue while driving, even if you don’t leave it on all the time.

Climate control system on Mav is exceptional, much better than anything I have ever had.

I gotta go with others here about a rear defroster (without a dog) not being needed. I live in Iowa and I've been impressed how clear the rear window stays.
