Honest question: in what situations do you use it? Through three vehicles with that setting as an option I have never found a situation where I need the delay.
My most common use case is when I am pulling into a tight parking garage or touch free car wash. I can start to pull in, put it in reverse quickly, then back to drive so I can see while I am pulling in if I have cleared door space in the back.

Ah, gotcha. I think the concern on Ford's part might be the whole "moving forward while looking back" thing. The Explorer has 360 cameras and will run while pulling forward if you purposely select the option but it will cut off if you exceed a certain speed (like 5 MPH or something). I use it all the time while parking in parking lots.

It's pretty useful if you're manuevering in tight spaces with people walking around, or other vehicles moving. so you can still see behind you after you've engaged drive. if you're getting ready to go back into reverse, it's especially helpful.

otherwise, not much actual value, more of a gee-whiz kind of feature. it can be annoying if you reverse, drive forward slowly in a tight area and then want to change something on the infotainment. I've hit X several times in that situation so the rear camera shuts off.

So today I noticed that after reverse, and then drive I was no longer seeing a preview of the rear while driving off. I went to the features menus, then rear camera and the option for rear view camera delay is no longer showing in the options. Can anyone with a Lariat check this out on their sync system? This is upsetting as I count on that feature in a couple of situations. I'm assuming it was an automatic update which caused it.
Checked mine and it’s still working and selectable

exactly. It’s under the heading of features you never knew you had to have until you used it.

I get mad every time I rent a car and it doesn’t have autohold or rear view camera delay.

Let us know please if your build number on sync 3 is 22251. If it’s 22200 or lower, then that explains why it’s still there.

I have the opposite opinion on auto-hold. I'm annoyed every time I get in the car with my wife and it is on. She loves it but I have too much muscle memory to not rely on the vehicle slowly moving when I release the brake.
