Rear of cab wall

I knew this but when it happened it scared the crap out of me. I was taking some metal chairs and a table back to my in laws. I was driving along normally and I came up on a slowpoke of course who didn’t know where they were going. I was following too close but he put his right blinker on and didn’t go right but ended up going a little further and went left. This caused me to hit the brakes pretty hard. Then I heard a very loud thump which scared me to death and I then figured out why. The chairs came flying forward and hit the front of the bed which is the rear of the cab. I have had pickups before but this would not bother me because in a regular pickup there is a gap between the cab and bed. Just be aware of this!

My first truck was a 1961 F100 Uni-Body. Full framed but the cab and bed were one piece.

Just wanted to make everyone aware that this can happen. Definitely my fault but used to a body on frame truck. Nothing bad happened.

I once had a salesman that got rear-ended three times in one year. I only let him drive a couple times with me in the car. Full gas, full brake, etc.
Each time it was the car in back that got the blame… didn’t matter… it’s the general rule.

A good rule of thumb for driving, the slower and the more erratic the driver ahead, the more distance you should give. Saves a lot of headaches.

You stopped, no foul. It was the loose cargo that made it an event. BTW… does the government still make nitro-glycerin in MD and transport in in unmarked vehicles?

I think they switched to single axle dump trucks for transport. And they take the route with the most grade railroad crossings as possible.
