So I washed the salt off the truck. I drove to work and I park inside a large garage, I needed something out of the back and left the the rear doors open for quite a few minutes. When i came back I noticed puddles on the floor on both sides. So when the the doors are open the water comes out from the bottom hole closest to the front. So my guess it puddles in-between the two holes. I immediately sprayed Fluid film in all the door drain holes.

What is fluid film? I also noticed lots of water seems to come out of the tailgate when opened.

It is a chemical that keeps the body from rusting

At the car wash, I actually direct a low pressure spray directly into those drain holes on my 2015 Edge to keep dirt from collecting in the seam at the bottom of the door. If that dirt isn't cleaned out, it can hold moisture and cause rust. I do this about 4-5 times a year because I live on a gravel road. It always amazes me how much crap flows out, even small stones. . .

It will be really bad news if the doors on the Maverick sag between the drain holes allowing moisture and dirt to collect there.

Thanks for the heads up about 'Fluid Film', I'll have to check that out.

Update;
I looked up 'Fluid Film', it sounds a lot like what the Army used to preserve their vehicles, similar to Cosmoline but maybe thinner. It might be a good thing to spray in the area behind the driver's side rear wheel well where all that road grime collects.

I've been using this spray for years. Not only on my vehicles but tractors and any metal surface where water can puddle.

Get a roll of plastic and lay on ground, drive your vehicle on it , open the doors and spray in every drain hole you can find. It will take a couple hours for the excess to drain and a few more days to wipe the excess that has dried on painted surfaces.

Amazon sells it.

Did you ever get a reply from Ford on this issue? I'm just curious as my Mav has this issue. Thanks!

An old thread - but a common thing people observe after hard rains etc.

It's normal to get water in doors. Comes in from the windows (gets past the rubber seal at the base of the window). They're not water tight. Water is supposed to drain from the doors - unless the drain is plugged with debris etc (also common).

Below is a pic from F150 forum. I typically use a plastic zip tie end to 'unclog' the square-ish drain hole area. The rubber plug is NOT a drain.
