I’ve put about 3000 miles on our Maverick hybrid so far and it’s been great but about the last 100 miles I’ve been heading a rattle near the steering wheel. It sounds like something is just a little loose but it’s only present sometimes when driving on the freeway between 35-85 mph. It almost sounds like there’s something stuck under the truck flapping.
I took it to Walnut Creek Ford today and they said the issue was actually some paint pens in the back drivers seat pocket. Fine, I’m an over protective new owner and I overreacted. I left thinking great that’s best case scenario but as soon as I got on the freeway, without pens, it was still there. I’ll be taking it back to check but I want to see if this is an issue anyone else has dealt with so I can give some better direction.

Mine rattled a few weeks after purchase, look underneath and around steering column for any fitment issues with the rubber and plastic that surrounds the column. Try adjusting the position of the column while watching the surrounding covers. I had one fitment issue near the column, moved a piece of rubber no more noise. Plastic should be flush with adjoining panels.

I have a 2023 Lariat with only 400 miles and experiencing a different kind of issue with the steering wheel since the day I picked it up at the dealership. When turning, I hear a swoosh type of sound. Like something is slightly rubbing. I dont know if that is normal but I've never heard that on any new vehicle I've owned in the past. Is the turning of the steering wheel supposed to be completely silent? 🤔
