Reviewing all the feedback here on the forum, I'm seeing the only difference is eco or Lariat vs hybrid XL and XLT. Eco and Lariat remember volume, XL and XLT default to 7.
That has to be a software setting if that's the case - which means it might be addressable via Forscan if you're open to going that route.

Or it's a setting buried in the infotainment system.

I dunno, like so many other folks in this thread, my '23 XLT remembers my last volume

There is another the factor of the OP question - Radio default volume.

The number of comments about drivers never using their radio due to always have CarPlay connected - I'm wondering if still some apples and oranges being compared.

Despite radio being stated, is that a general term now like text messaging, and it's not the radio but Sirius, or carplay streaming, ect.

24 XLT - no carplay, actual radio - volume retained - in park.

I discovered the other day, had my radio set, was taking off, and flagged down by friend in parking lot, backed up and rolled window down, and was trying to turn the radio down so we could talk - steering wheel and turn knob failed, tried to turn it off - knob button failed. Very annoying.

Not sure why it was so stuck just because in Reverse.

I've done that before the upgrade for rearview camera issue - it would put the volume change on top of the video - and perhaps that's the problem.

This is a good point. The definition of "radio" could make a difference in this.

I have a phone that connects but I'm most always tuned to a SiriusXM station when the "system" turns on...and under that condition, my last volume setting is retained.

I use both radio and carplay, and my volume is retained across both. Again, '23 XLT.

In this case I'm talking about the regular FM radio and SIRISXM
