Hi all,

I know this has been asked and answered about 1 million times, but I recognize that there has been a lot of other information that has diluted the search as well. So, I figured I would ask again and deal with the rath of being told to search.

I ordered on 9/22 for a 23 and the truck is coming in the next few months.

Is my order price (base price) price protected against the increases Ford has put out there? I am seeing from my window sticker to last DORA a difference of a few hundred dollars + an increase in delivery. I don't have an issue paying it, but fundamentally if I can keep my own money, I'd like to.

Any information you all can share?

Depends on the dealer. My wife took delivery of a 2023 Lincoln Corsair. There were some price changes from time of order. Lincoln Dealer had the information and adjusted price of vehicle accordantly.

Just picked up my Hybrid Maverick. Ford dealer said we don't do that. You will get a check directly from Ford for any price differences.

I guess it depends on your dealer.

Bottom line this comes down to the Dealer. If you have an agreement to buy at MSRP....well some Dealers will tell you that is what is on the sticker when delivered. If you have paperwork showing the sales price/fees, etc. at time of order you should ask the Dealer to honor that. ASK your Dealer for the price protection. Again, this is all on the Dealer. You are automatically "price protected" on your Maverick order when the order is accepted by Ford. BUT...Ford has no way of forcing the Dealer to give YOU the price protection money. The Dealer has to file for that with Ford. Probably takes 45 days or so for the actual funds to hit the Dealer account.
My Dealer honored the price we agreed on at time of order. He also took off the $20 listed due to the hot spot being deleted by Ford. There ARE honest Dealers/salespersons out there.

This is something you ask your dealer about, before you place an order. Honest dealers will sell you the truck for the amount on the original Priced DORA (Dealer Order Receipt Acknowledgement). A little dealer research/reviews will reveal if they stand by their word. If they avoid answering the question, it's time to find another dealer. A bit late now, though.

Thank you all! I do also have a screen shot of what Tim Bartz said about the price protection and will see if the dealer honors it.

The salesman said in our initial DORA that it is price protected and have that written, but then in other conversations later didn't directly comment on that.

So I will go in with the original DORA, Tim screenshot and see what they will do with it.

This will be a true test of what type of dealer they are going to be.

Salesperson can't commit the dealership to a price, verbal or written. Requires sales/general manager.

Be sure you maintain a tight friendship with the sales manager or general manager.

In the vast majority of Dealers that is mostly true. But there are salespersons in many Dealerships that can and do sign off on their own paperwork and it is NOT signed off by anyone that is a Manager. There is no law or regulation requiring that. I spent the last several years being in the car business doing that exact thing. Wanted no part of going back into managing, and with the right experience you earn the trust of the Dealership to take care of business. Customers love that!
You will find that a LOT of the true Fleet sales persons worth a crap operate this way.....

RE; Price Protectio, If you made a change such as add on's - remote , etc. on your 2023 order, and the base price went up 400. as it did , mid year.. you kept the same model XLT , is that price increase protected against , and again going into 2024. as it's not bulit.

Price protection only happens within same model year. So, 2024 hybrid order that was rolled over will still get the $1500 increase. However, if your transition from 2023 to 2024 was placed correctly you will receive a transition/private offer help relieve some of the price increase from 2023 to 2024.

Fleet may be different because they work with experienced buyers.

I've been in management with several companies and we were 'officers' of the company unlike non-management and could commit the company up to certain limits of money, orders, etc. There may be some small companies that allow sales people to do that but in my contract law classes and company training I never saw examples of that. I would never trust a non-management person to sign a contract and expect it to hold up as binding.

Sounds like your business experience is not in the Car business. Let's just say it runs a bit differently than running an accounting firm for instance.....

Fleet Managers usually know a LOT more about Fleet sales than a General Manager of most automotive Dealerships. Takes a lot of experience to...keep out of trouble with cost and specifications.

But I was never fully in fleet. And I have worked with dozens of non fleet salespersons that never needed a Manager to sign off on the deal.

It's more likely meant as price protection in the form of a private offer. Which is not actually price protection in the ford ordering system. This is an issue of semantics.
