Has anyone experienced any issues with the use of Predictive Cruise Control on 2025 Mavericks? On my vehicle, every time it reads a speed limit sign it bumps up the set cruise speed to 15 mph ABOVE the speed limit. This happens without warning and the vehicle immediately tries to quickly accelerate up the new speed.
At one point it increased the set speed to 90 mph. With Predictive mode turned off, the cruise control performs normally.

This is a serious safety issue and I'm wondering if the problem is endemic to this model or if my unit is faulty in some way.

Thanks.

Adjusting the Set Speed Tolerance

  1. From the driver assistance menu, press Cruise Control. See Driver Assistance Menu.
  1. Press Adaptive Cruise Control.
  1. Switch Predictive Speed Assist on.
  1. Press Tolerance.
  1. Adjust the slider to set the tolerance.
Note: You can set tolerance for vehicle speed adjustment based on speed sign recognition only.

I found it unreliable. I know of two different places that it reads the wrong speed limit. One is 45MPH in a 55MPH zone, The other is 65MPH in a 45MPH zone. It happens every time I drive through the area.

But your problem is the Set Speed Tolerance.

Thanks, all. I thought I had already set the tolerance, but I will check again.

Read the FULL manual
My manual includes over 550 pages, and includes every option that may be available. It is rather confusing to determine which options my specific Maverick may have. So I understand why someone would ask a question on the forum that may be included somewhere in the manual. To simply reply to a legitimate question "read the manual" is a rather unfriendly response. Just my two cents.

Read the FULL manual
or Read The FACTORY Manual :)
...now if only it wasn't full of errors or mention settings we wish our Mavericks had.

These tips may help.
While the 2025 Ford Maverick manual has over 500 pages. It also has a search feature.
On my phone I found when I entered into google. "Predictive Cruise Control settings 2025 Maverick."
It came back with this page including a video. It even references this forum😉

It uses the Sync maps and sign recognition. Unfortunately, I have found the intelligent cruise to be unsafe. It will correctly set the speed to I-65 in Birmingham to the legal speed limit of 60 MPH. Unfortunately, that will get you completely run over. In the vehicle that has it, we turned that function off and use just the regular adaptive cruise.

I would recommend against the automatic speed setting. I LOVE the idea, but in practice, it doesn't work 100% of the time and that means that in a 60, it could suddenly misread something and send you to 20, slamming on the breaks, or in a 20 it can misread and send you to 60.

As much as I want my Mav to drive itself, I'll stick with adjusting that speed on my own. Had a few too many "slam on the brakes" suddenly and "smash the gas" suddenly for me to trust it.

I've experienced similar behavior in my '25 Lariat. It's almost as though it considers both speed limit signs, as well as stored map speeds when adjusting the cruise speed. I've had instances where it slams on the brakes in places where there were no signs at all (country roads), but are places where there could have been previous construction signs that are no longer there. It also predicts speed limit changes even without signs being present, so there must be some speed setting logic that's not just sign recognition. It's really handy to use, but one still has to pay attention to it and be ready to adjust if the Mav decides to do its own thing.
