I don't know why I'm always trying to reinvent the wheel. I guess it's the engineer in me. I'm just going to make two pass through harnesses. Using
Molex connectors like someone else posted.
12 pin Connector with
mouser Part numbers
34824-0124 and 34825-0125 w pin 560023-0423

And the 8 pin connector at the sunroof with part numbers
34791-0080 and 34792-0080
The pins are part number 560023-0448 (you have to buy 1600 of these min. Does anyone have 20 or so of these laying around I might purchase?)

Anyone with experience making the harness se an issue I've not thought of?

Why are you making two harnesses?

For the pins you need to look for loose piece packaging. I believe you may have the wrong part number for the sunroof connector - you can double-check me but search Mouse for 538-560023-0421-LP.

I like pulling power off the camera connector personally, you get a true 12v ignition on there.

I was making two because I wanted options depending on "packaging" hiding wires and stuff. Didn't know which way I wanted to go. Cost wasn't much different if I order at the same time.

That part number is much easier to live with! not having to purchase 1600 of them Thank you!!! I will most likely use the 12 pin as well but for the cost having options isn't a bad thing.

My plug as you can see in the photo I took was a mirror image of what was labeled and pictured by another member. I wonder why the difference? Did it change during the model run or is it a trim level thing?

Using the pins and the 8 pin connector I made the patch cable from the overhead lights.

Then used the factory kia plugs on the mirror (male and female)
Used 1 of the female plugs like these

3m VHB tape to the back of the converter and the windshield allows me to connect my dash camera with minimal wiring showing.

Everything works perfectly and I didn't "tap" any factory wires or damage the insulation on the wires.
