I'll start, first one is on the inside of the glass between the layers and about the size of a dime. Second one is my most recent and about the size of a quarter. Neither are in my line of sight. There's also another 6 or 8 scattered around the windshield but none big enough or bothersome enough to warrant a replacements.

Ha I just did the Permatex chip repair on my windshield, I should have taken before and after pics
I went to do that on the smaller chip and found out it's between the two pieces of glass. Nothing I or anyone else can do to fix it.

Driving down the highway and passing a plowtruck with his blade up. Driver must have hit the wrong lever and the blade dropped onto the concrete. I just narrowly avoided getting a windshield and the front of the car covered in the concrete chips that blew up. I avoid them as much as possible now.

Is that the acoustic windshield glass?

How can it be purely acoustic glass when it's got a pickup fitted to it? ... *badoom tish*

FYI Speedy Glass have been known to do free chip repair days once a month as a promo, might be good news for the chip afflicted if it's happening in your region.

If the acoustic is more chippy, it doesn't help my wavering between XLT+lux vs Lariat.

I have 3,200 miles on mine and just got a star chip in the passenger size windshield. The worst part was it was a schmuck who cut in front of me and kicked up a stone.

Checked in with my insurance company and as part of the insurance, they cover fixing stone/star chips at no charge. So I'm scheduled for Saturday and they will do the repair at my house.
If I wanted to replace the windshield I have a $250 deductible.

A lot of insurance companies have similar coverage.

I had the $100 deductible and some of the glass companies would waive it. I think I'm at $250 or $500 now due to the price increase for insurance last year, I doubt they will waive that much.

As mentioned, a lot of insurance companies will cover star\stone chips at no charge\no deductible, because they'd rather cover that than cover the cost of replacing the windshield, especially with all of the safety stuff connected to the windshield.
It can't hurt to check with your insurance company.
