I know this is an old thread but. After a year and a half, today as I was getting out of the truck the wind blew the door back on me and I had something metal in my hand and put a nice white scratch in the top of the door panel a few inches behind the pull about 1/8 wide and an inch long. So... I lightly scrubbed it with a wet magic eraser, that helped a little, dried it with a cloth then took a lighter and passed the flame over the scuff for less than a second, then pause. After doing this 4 or 5 times it was back to the right color. Hit it again with a wet magic eraser and it's barely noticeable in direct sunlight, when the door is closed I can't see it at all.
Heat works marvelous

Thanks for posting, Glen. If anyone is considering purchasing these, be sure to read the reviews. Many folks complained about the poor quality of the adhesive. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FJLLMQW...0?ie=UTF8&psc=1&pd_rd_plhdr=t&aref=Im5yodaqcF
It is not a problem with that adhesive it is a problem with the prep you do. You have to clean the area then use the bonding wipes and wait 3 to 5 minutes before you stick on the product. I found the bonding wipes were dried out and I bought them online. Mine stuck on great and the product works great to prevent scratches. Nothing will take out a scratch on the easy scratching plastic.

☝ EXACTLY CORRECT ☝
Of course the customers who are complaining probably forgot to mention that they previously sprayed their door with protective spray.
The area you're sticking the pad to is a textured surface.

So the pad does not have 100% of the surface area to adhere to preparation is very important

I have those lower door pads installed and they work great for the part of the door that gets more impacts than the rest of the interior combined. They don't scratch and are easy to clean.

For most of the pieces, they stuck fine. In a couple of spots, they came loose.
I just replaced the original double sided tape with some 3M. No big deal.

Thanks for clarifying! My consideration for purchasing just got better. Nothing like learning from someone who has had first hand experience, and that is one of the things that make this club indispensable.

As others have mentioned, it's all in the prep work. The interior plastic is probably polypropylene or polyethylene, which both have extremely low surface energy.

The adhesion promoter leaves behind a film a few microns thick that chemically bonds to the plastic. And at the same time, adhesives stick much better to the adhesion promoter than to the plastic.

Extra adhesion promoter wipes can be had inexpensively.

Appreciate your input on this, and I went ahead and ordered the wipes for any future bonding needs. Thank you!
