I have run full width flaps on last two motorhomes. They swing in the wind and do little ( in my opinion) to help with rock chips.
What I have found that actually works is new dual wheel mudflaps. Factory ones are too high from the ground when running down the road. I put mine so there is only 2-3 inches of clearance to road when coach is at ride height. Yes, they hit the ground on DP that have the lowering feature when leveling, but that is not a factor on the Georgetown. I have yet to notice a rock chip on my new Maverick.
I have mud flaps and a rock guard on the motor home. Rock guards continue to be topic of discussion on RV forums - some swear by them and some say they kick up rocks. I also had clear protective film applied to the front of the Maverick which does protect the paint. I find small rocks on the hood after each trip, but so far no chips. On a side note, be sure to fold the mirrors in to keep them from being chipped.
The best thing I have seen was a "Tow Car Shield" which is a padded cover that protects the entire front of the vehicle including hood and windshield. I think they run around $500. Downside is that the cover can rub and abrade paint. Also some people use shields that mount to the tow bar. Considerations: expense, ease of installation, how cumbersome is it (what do you do with it when not towing), and your ability to accept that some rock chips are a part of towing a vehicle behind a MH.
