Hey Mavericks , I hear( read) about some paint chip issues. Where are you all seeing this happen ? On the hood ? Just trying to see if I can do something to prevent it on mine . Thanks !

I have one on the leading edge of my hood. Probably came with the rock chip in the windshield that I’m getting fixed today. I ordered the hood deflector to hopefully avoid more chips.

I was thinking about the deflector also . I've never been a fan of them , but definitely don't want chips all over my Oxford White hood .👍

I have white too! I like the deflector look with the white. I really want the black tailgate letters and doorsill plates. I’m find myself addicted to adding things to my Mav!

Sweet ! I want the tailgate applique, and hood scoop . Kind of looks Raptor-ish to me . Maybe even the fender flares ? 😉

I took a trip from Alabama to North Dakota and back, highway driving. I had 5 chips to repair on the front edge of the hood. I covered the chips with touch up paint and also bought the hood protector, which I haven't put on yet. I figure I will deal with the chips with paint until I'm ready to install the protector someday. The protector is form fitted to the contour, so in my opinion it probably won't do much as deflecting rather than just covering up. What I might do it wait for a company to produce the upright version of the deflector for the Mav. There is a company that makes one for the Ranger that's mounted upright.

So far no chips on my Mav, but we have a 07 Prius and a 02 Tundra, The Prius has dozens of chips on the front part of the hood and the Tundra a few along the front edge also, I got the weather tech deflector and it covers the areas that look like it will be the problem area pretty good, so far so good with 2k miles and no chips yet.

When I get mine, I'll be doing paint protection film right away. Entire front end. Budgeting around $1500 for the job.

I got about 1256km/780 miles on mine, been a month since I got it so far. Already got three chips, one on the front leading edge of the hood/fender, one on the roof, and another on the passenger A-pillar. Spring melt sucks as the freeways have a ton of gravel on the sides.

Noticed some scratches too on the inside of the B-pillar, dunno where those came from.

Yipes 😱.....the deflector on the Ford accessories site is $80 . Not bad at all to protect the hood . I'll definitely be getting one !

Had a few (at 3200 miles now) on the leading edges of my white lariat hybrid……hood, bumper, fender, roof. I applied PPF to the most exposed areas. The good news…..the Ford white touchup paint matches so well that I can’t tell where the chips were!
