Hi everyone so I was one of the people that had been asking about order confirmation emails a week or so ago turns out my dealer waited 2 or 3 weeks before he actually put my order in because he didn't think I was going to be able to pay for it even though we'd already signed the order slip. I should have been able to get my order in the day after they announced the vehicle instead the order didn't go through till like the 23rd how much if at all since production has not been scheduled do you think this will mess up my chances of getting a vehicle early among the batches?

No1, I would tell that dealer to kiss my ass, then go order from a different one. I would refuse to let that jack have any profit. To answer your timing question….all scheduling will be done based on color and options ordered. Since no scheduling has taken place, you will be good to go.

Ya i gave him a piece of my mind, but he sent it in immediately after my chewing him out, so for the sake of not complicating things more i let it be. Once i have the keys in hand i plan on telling them how dissapointed ive been with the whole process.

OK, but at least do this……make sure he is present when you pick up the truck, then in front of him, peel off the dealership badge and/or license plate holder with dealer name and throw it down at his feet and spit on them.

Oh ill for sure be taking the dealership badge and the plate holder is a good idea, other than that ive unfortunately been working way to hard on my anger management as of late to let myself start rolling that ball down the hill. I will deff try to make sure hes there though.

What started the whole thing weighs I don't currently have a job but I've got almost the full Thirty grand in cash and plan on paying for all of it with a loan from the bank and that loan itself I'm planning on only leaving myself with about five to six grand in my account and paying that little bit off over time but since I don't have a job even though one of the other employees signed everything that needed to be signed when he came back to work on Monday he didn't submit the order and then never called me about it.

If I were this guys manager I would have given him both barrels. What the hell does it matter if you could pay for it or not? Is he under the impression that if he had a maverick show up to the dealership and you backed out that it wouldn’t sell to someone else within 24 hours? My dealership isn’t taking a penny in deposits because they could care less if you actually end up buying the vehicle. What they want is allotments of Mavericks for their dealership because every single one is a guaranteed sale whether it’s to the person who reserved it or the hoards of people that will likely pay over MSRP to get the unclaimed scraps. What a complete and total idiot.

That was exactly my thought, the whole process so far has been less than great. And idk if you saw my reply to the other guy but, i have almost the entire 30k in cash, ill be taking a loan to keep a safety net, but this dealership is gonna have its entire 30k within the week it comes in. And the guys have been "this close" to losing out on that lol

Did you tell them you have all the cash? Never ever tell the dealership you’re going to pay cash.

Why is that? This is what I did, to simplify the negotiation... ie none of the "what do you want to spend per month" stuff.

A lot of dealers make money on writing the loans, so if you go with their financing and keep it at least 6 months, they get kickbacks from the bank. So even if you go with the same lender at the same rate, the dealers prefer to write up the finance contract. When you pay cash, you eliminate this revenue stream for them.

Exactly.

In your attempt to simplify the negotiating you’ve actually shot yourself in the foot and destroyed your negotiating position. Now that salesman knows he needs to make all his money on the vehicle itself which is only half as much as they would have made had you financed. That dealer isn’t going to budge on the price of the vehicle now that he knows that. One of the number one rules for buying cars is you don’t talk about how you are paying until the price of the vehicle is agreed upon. I would move dealerships and start over and do some research online about buying vehicles and how to negotiate the sale.

Well... lets be honest, there wasn't much foot to shoot off on a Base XL . Many dealers are marking up the mav over MSRP and also bury various fees in the final price.
All in I paid MSRP +$122 for fuel/licence/OMVIC fee.... so in my attempt to simplify the negotiation, I don't think it turned out too bad. No way I'm pulling my order to try and save a couple $100 lol!!

I do not believe that the Maverick has time stamps associated with the reservation/order. So production is probably base on grouping "like builds" but I don't know for sure.

There are dealerships being listed on here selling 3% below invoice my man. You’re overpaying for no reason. Offering cash does nothing to simplify anything. It’s like showing everyone at the poker table your cards to make playing the hand easier. Easier for everyone but you.

In the end if you're happy with the deal, that's what matters. You can always take it in for service anywhere you want. While using Xplan I could probably get an OK deal, I just do not like any of the dealers in my area, and that pretty much covers the whole state of FL!
