and then this happened. Stopped in a parking lot waiting for a guy to back into a spot and WAM! a woman backed into me. It's worse than the pictures let on. $3800+ in damages. Bad news is it will be July or August before I can get it in.

I finally sold my motorcycle last year due to a bad back but when I rode I always figured everyone in a car or truck was trying to kill me. It's sad when you're stopped in a parking lot and you get hit by someone not paying attention.

Sorry for your fender bender. I had my Maverick 4 days when a rock cracked my windshield….split across the entire windshield within 2 days.

no matter how careful there's always someone out there that is not. i was sitting luckily in my Jeep Gladiator alone in row of parking spaces thinking I would be good. A woman parks in the next row lined up with me. when she backed out she ran into my front bumper. how could she not see me.. glad I was in the jeep, there was no damage. For sure my bumper would have been creased in the maverick!

Just add four to eight thousand to your purchase price and tell her it's her's due to it being a Unicorn. You didn't buy a damaged vehicle.

Since it's going through insurance, there will be a ding on your car fax about this accident, which means the value of your truck will be less. So ask for Diminish Value from her insurance company. Read this to help you understand how to ask for it.

With the before and after difference and then the rental they should just buy you a new one. They are out there somewhere I hear.

For that reason I always try to park in the far reaches of the parking lot, away from other cars. If I do have to park next to other cars I won’t park next to one that’s beat up or one that has the front wheels turned hard in either direction or if they are off center in the parking space.
People just don’t care, they’ll open their doors into you and not even think twice about it.

Bought door bumpers for help. Not fool proof but that and keeping my fingers crossed might help.

The guy that did the estimate said he will put a new door on it because it got into the collision beam. Also a new front fender and the complete mirror assembly because it cracked the plastic base under the mirror.

With cost of labor few doors get a new or used skin. And mirrors are not cheap and there are so many differences.

In all seriousness - This is my first new vehicle in 25 years of driving. As I enter a parking lot, my instinct is to find the first spot in an empty corner and back in. I do NOT head for the middle of the lot. I'll walk.

Nice try, but even if you park your Mav alone, some a$$ will park next to it. This was a near-empty side of the lot, but...

Hybrid Escape parts are on backorders-4 to 6 weeks. Ford is being stingy on parts to 3rd party shoprs.
