Every year, I go to the regional burning man, Critical NW. It's a magical time off-grid with full pack-in/pack-out of water, food, and trash plus a mini theme camp.

This year, I replaced my old S10 with my new '24 Maverick Hybrid with Airlift 1000 bags to help the rear end. On the way, there were three of us in the cab with all of our crap. The Leitner rack and tailgate extension made the trip a dream. The airbags kept the bed level and we made the 2:15 minute drive with 28mpg average.

We unloaded and set up camp, and the truck got to sit for a week without a drive. No low battery warnings, luckily. No cell signal if it had any problems.

We loaded up for the way home, and it fits where other trucks just can't. Easy to maneuver between other camps and ready to make the journey back.

Alas, I noticed that the passenger airbag wasn't keeping pressure. Need to get that warrantied next week. Luckily, it wasn't TOO bad of a squat while driving. On the way back, we stopped for lunch, and I had a chance to take a pic. Less stuff in the bed this time because we lost one passenger who had a ride back with her beau.

My brand-new truck is quite dirty now, but I'm glad to have broken her in. I'm not someone who drives a truck for the sake of having a status symbol. It's going to be a workhorse, and so far, it's done an admirable job! 28mpg for nearly 5hrs of highway driving and definitely not being the best aerodynamic load, I'm happy and impressed.

What are those tower things in background?
Those were the Hanging Gardens of Babble-On. Essentially, there are giant rope nets below to lie on, and at the top of the tower were large flames that would bubble down on the underside of the suspended plate so you could watch the fire boil and bubble. It used propane as its source of gas. It was a great chill spot. Warm, mesmerizing.

It's especially fund to see the rubberneckers staring at you as you drive down the road. Crazy thing to me is driving a small truck and knowing that at least in payload, it outclasses some significantly larger trucks!

The 4.3l S10 was a strong truck, but the Maverick just feels so much nicer. If Chevy had modernized the S10 and offered a hybrid powertrain, I'd have had a tough choice. As is, the Maverick is in a class all on its own!

Which model of air bags did you use? Any issue with the warranty on the leaking bag?

Wow ! When I first saw the pics, my first thought was 'it might be time for a bigger truck !!'
Obviously I'm wrong, you showed how to do it!!
Congratulations and good luck with your Maverick.
