My '25 XL EB has 2 buttons on the steering wheel to change drive modes.
The R button moves driving mode 2 choices, and back to Normal driving
The L button moves thru 2 more choices and back.
I'd like to see 1 button to cycle through all modes, and a system that remembers your last mode and stays there on next startup, until driver changes it.
I don't get the current setup.

Ford can get you the 1 button option. Look at the 22-24 models.

A simple software change to remember the drive mode? NOPE!

Ford initiated this in the 2025 model.
If the last time you drove your your Maverick, you used eco, sport etc. mode and wish to stay in that mode. This is what you do.
There is a 2 sec. pop-up on your instrument screen that asks if you want to return to your previous used mode, but you have to be quick. It goes away in about 2 seconds. You have to hit OK before it disappears.

well yes its one click... technically you have to push the OK button up then click OK. i count it as 2. For some odd reason the default is set to No.

Unfortunately, my routine for getting and starting a vehicle doesn't work well with this. What with the seat belt reminder, having to click through that first to even get to the ECO button prompt. Along with actually belting in.

My 2026 Tremor asks me at start up if I want to go back into the previous mode.

Seems the 2026 Tremor at least has some nice upgrades and corrections.
I’ve noticed a few nice ones my buddies 2025 Lariat lacks.

Not counting Tremor specific features,

I was a button and knob junkie in my 2024
I am completely happy with my 2026 interface.

I’ve only used the drive mode button 8-10 times intentionally in the last 4 years, and find it more annoying to have to cycle through with one button. At least with two you don’t have to cycle through modes you’d never use.

I haven't seen the notice to return to eco mode in months. Probably because I gave up on it. When I used eco, it flashed by in under a second, because I have to be reminded about the seatbelt that I already have on and the parking brake I just released. Ford could have made the Maverick stay in eco mode if you had it on. They chose not to. It and the seatbelt reminder really irritate me.

My stepdaughter is a professor in France. She has a PHD in chemistry and is very book smart but doesn't have a lick of common sense.

With all the recalls, possible transmission and hybrid battery issues and all the posts of Mavericks getting totaled...I think having to push a few buttons is the best case scenario
