I know this is a lot of reading, and probably a bore for many of you, but I have to find something to dream on while waiting for my Hybrid Maverick
First, a little backstory. I'm an audio nut, and I LOVE my music. I drive 50K+ miles a year, and the tunes are going the whole time. I like sound quality, and don't care whether or not cars beside me can hear it too. My current car is a 2016 focus(with 250k on it) with Infinity Kappa Perfect components up front, and Infinity Kappa Perfect coaxials in the rear. I also have an Infinity 10" sub. It is all run through a Rockford Fosgate DSR1 DSP connected to a 5 channel amp. The sub will get pulled, but won't make it to the Maverick due to air space requirements. I'm probably going to leave the mids and highs in the car, since I want to try something different, and don't want to monkey with pulling door panels and putting factory back in. I'd also have to re-modify things to make the factory stuff fit again. I don't have my Maverick yet, but it's scheduled to be built July 3. I figured I would get a jump on the audio build now, so I can get the stuff along the way.
Today, I started ordering some things for the Maverick. I decided I was going to buck the Morel/Focal trend and try something different. Not that there is anything wrong with either of those. I actually love Morel stuff. Anywho, I ordered some Dynaudio Esotan 232 components for up front. Most of the people know Dynaudio from home audio circles, but they're good stuff. Woofersetc has some of the MK1 sets on sale for a smoking price(for Dynaudio). I also ordered some DD Audio 4" coaxials to go in the rear pillars. I don't like mixing speaker brands on the highs(voice matching reasons), but in the case of the rears, I don't think it will matter much. They're more for a little rear fill anyway.
What I have to order: A lot of sound deadening. I'll probably go with the Stinger Stealth mat, since it is all black and I will be covering that rear wall with it. I'll also need to get some wiring stuff, and speaker adapters for the front doors. I'm thinking I'm going to mount the tweeters in the little panels above the main door panel(A pillar covers?), which is the factory location on my current car. I'll disconnect the factory dash tweeters. Right now, I'm leaning towards going with an Image Dynamics IDQ-8 V.4 D4 for the sub that will be mounted under the rear seat. I may wait on ordering the sub, until I can get my hands on the truck to see if I can come up with any creative ways to get more air space for an efficient 10" sub while still keeping the install clean? I like to keep my audio stuff tidy and as close to factory looking as possible. Also, it is a work vehicle, so I don't want to give any extra space if possible.
In summary, the whole audio setup should be:
-Dynaudio Esotan 232 components up front
-DD Audio Digital Designs D-X4b in rear
-Rockford Fosgate DSR1 DSP(in current car)
-Soundstream PN5.640D 5 channel Amplifier(in current car)
**I know the Soundstream doesn't seem to be of the same caliber as the other compents, but it is
one of the best bang for the buck digital amps out there. It only pulls 40 amps at most, and sounds
pretty darn good/clean. It has served me well so far anyway. I'll upgrade if needed later.
-Image Dynamics IDQ-8 V.4 D4 for the sub(2 ohm should get it 350 watts),
-Sound deadening on/in the doors, back wall, in the pillars, and anywhere else that looks like it needs
it. I may do the rear doors too, just help get that interior as quiet as possible.
I think that about covers it for now. If you guys can think of anything I'm missing or forgetting, please chime in! I welcome all input, good or bad. Again, sorry for the long post, but I can only dream about what I'm going to do, until the truck shows up(hopefully in August).
