Hello everybody! I just recently bought a 2025 Maverick Lariat (AWD, Hybrid, 4k Tow, BAP) during the employee pricing sale and just today was able to put my new NJ plates on!

However, I am having some difficulties when it comes to NJ E-ZPass. I'm unsure of how exactly I should be marking my truck for my tag.
Specifically, I'm having two problems:

1. There is no "Maverick" option listed on the drop-down menu for Ford vehicle models. However, there is "Pickup" and "Other". I'm leaning towards using the "Pickup" option, but want to know what others have done in this group.

2. I'm also unsure what 'Vehicle Type' this truck is. I'm guessing it's a "202: Pickup Truck:>7000lbs:Ax2", but I am unsure if that's the right option. There is also "203: Pickup Truck:>7000lbs:Ax2D" and I'm not entirely sure what that means.

For now, I've gone with "Pickup" and "202". However, if anybody knows any better, please let me know.

Thank you!

EDIT: I am switching to the "200" classification, as suggested below by Hot Runr Guy. Thank you!

---

EDIT (next day): I just called E-ZPass. Talked with an agent and she said that with the Ford Maverick the "Pickup" and "200" classification are perfectly fine for the truck.

Here's to hoping that this information helps some others in the future when trying to figure this all out!

You sure don't want a >7000# classification, as that would be considered a heavier truck, and subject to a higher rate.
Whats wrong with class 200?

In case you are not familiar with the symbols, the ">" means greater than 7000 lbs, "<" would mean less than 7000 lbs.

That would make sense, hahah. I may have written the wrong symbol...but, of course, I am now locked out of my E-ZPass account (I forgot my password), so I can't check if I put in the wrong thing or wrote it wrong for this forum.

Ugggg...

I totally missed that classification. I think that's the right one to use.
Not sure if NJ is offering this yet, but in IL they are switching people over from a battery-powered transponder to a "sticker" that mounts on the windshield. Learned an expensive lesson last year that some EZ Pass states (like PA) are not compatible with the sticker technology, so I've had to revert back to a transponder.

Just in case they give you a choice.

I have been using class 200 <7000 on my ex pass on my 2023 EB Lariat. You don’t want the heavier class.

NJ E-ZPass requires a transponder.

Luckily, I was able to get them on the phone this morning within 45 minutes (that's pretty good...which is saying something) and they were able to fix my problems.

As someone who moves a transponder between vehicles, I'm not a fan of the sticker. I recently reached out to the Illinois I-Pass about it (which is compatible with EZPass and anything in the NE USA), and they said that when ordering a transponder, people will continue to have the option of a physical transponder vs sticker if they want one.

I just moved my existing Transponder from my Outback to the Maverick, and updated their system to reflect the year, made, and model. - Been over two years, and haven't had an issue. (I have the transponder just below the right side of the camera module).

The Maverick is about the same weight as my '12 Outback, and my wife's '25 Forester.
