So I was on the Maverick subreddit and a box maker released 8" and 10" boxes for the driver and passenger bins. The sets are cheaper than the singles though for some reason. I guess you'll only be able to use the driver side on the hybrid as it is.

Not bad, however looking at the air space .45cuft before a sub goes in leaves VERY little airspace for a 10" woofer. I'm sure there are subs that will work in them but most subs need at least .5cuft per sub for a sealed enclosure.

I agree, there are some 10" options in the .4 - .45 range but they might underperform compared to just using an 8" since the enclosures are the same except for cut-out.

If I was going to go that route, I'd probably use the 8" Alpine R2 from Colin's build since his box was like .1cuft smaller.

Mine is 3/4" mdf, otherwise probably would be the same volume.

It's good to have options, I like that this fits with the plastic tub, presumably unmodified.

From his pictures and vid on reddit, seems like a straight drop in .

@colinl Also if I were to follow your guide since i am non B&O, I would if I read correctly need:
Kicker KeyLOC
Hoel Wiring ACM adapter
Kicker Key 200.4
and
Kicker Key 500.1.
Correct?

currently I would favor the plugnplay t harness. keyloc is optional but I would use it instead of bringing the speaker level directly to the amps.

you'll also need a power wiring kit, I recommend the stinger 4 ga on Amazon it's a good value. distribution blocks. short lengths of 8 ga power and ground which I buy from a local shop but I would guess can also be found on Amazon probably in a longer length and you save the rest.

I wondered that as well. I bought some speaker harness adapters that were advertised to be for Bronco and Maverick, and they actually fit neither. I couldn't get them returned.

a plugnplaykits harness is expensive but it does exactly what's needed, so you have to allow for the time savings as well as the benefit of no splicing.

Splicing is not the end of the world, and worst case if you trade in your maverick later, you lose a LC2i(or similar line out converter), and a 4 channel amp. The LC2i is around $100, and depending on what 4 ch amp you toss in before trade in, that could be anywhere from $100-$200. And then whatever you leave in for speakers.

I used to remove EVERYTHING when I traded in a vehicle, but lately it's been easier to just leave the mids/highs in make sure they play and let it go.

And IF you are going to "return it to factory" then just make sure when you do splice you do it with room to make a reconnection.

It's a lot of splices if you're reusing the factory speaker wire. Even if you leave it forever I can see the convenience of a T harness being worth it for some folks.

Yea looks like I’m going to go with the the plugnplaykit loopback harness. I talked to someone on here who is pretty knowledgeable with audio and looks like I will need to splice into the loopback harness to add my crossovers so I don’t have to run any wiring into the doors for the crossovers. But for the $185 I think it’s a pretty good price for the loopback harness. I will be running a fix 86 as I heard the LOC aren’t the best for the mavericks

And have the multiple kits with amps and speakers along with the harnesses too, only thing is the set that I would go with the kicker 200.4 and 500.1 are out.

I just picked up a used pair with 2 8 inch subs for $300. Was going to cut out the opening and use 10s but I’m blown away by how the 2 8s hit. I had a single 10 in a custom box I made but these were too good to pass up. Really amazed at how hard 2 8s hit. I used some Amazon gift cards I had and ordered 2 Skar SDR-8 subs for $150 for the pair. I was running a Kicker 800 watt amp for the single 10 but I’ll be swapping to the CXA1200 I have.

As far as harnesses, Hoel is still around. I used his harness on my old truck for the 10 inch Hideaway and it was 100% P&P. This time around I got the Sounds Good Stereo harness for the B&O system. For $80 it allows you to connect your amp to the factory B&O sub connector. Install was easy as well. I’m not trying to win any Audio competitions I just wanted some extra bass for the stock system. For the money I’m 100% pleased.
