Stock or retail, this is a production build. I bet what you see is what you get.
I've seen closeup pictures of several Maverick bed and they all had the very rough metal bed finish...they should have made a cheap bed liner a standard option.

Always like the Toyota Tacoma....so looked at a 2018 today with 48,000 miles on the odometer, 4x4, 23 MPG ....$48.900....it talked me in to sticking with the Maverick, with an added Spray in Bedliner.

I also ordered area 51, and switched it to Velocity Blue. My truck started production yesterday 9-22. Haven't seen the finished yet.

The facts are as I stated (and you re-stated): 1. It's an entry level truck. 2. If you don't like the look of the inside of the bed then get the luxury package or a drop in or spray in bed liner or a bed rug, or other accessory to cover it.

All I can add is if you (or anyone one else that wants a "clean looking" truck bed as you point out) don't like the look, either do one of the options listed in #2 above, or buy a different truck. But good luck with that $20k price with the competition.
Mine won't have a bed liner in it, so I will get to see what it will really look like. I got the XLT, carbonized grey so hopefully won't show up as bad. If it does, then I will get a bed liner.

Even those that do get a bed liner, what's underneath is still there! I think we should all be grateful that we get to see what the bed of the truck is before the liner goes in and maybe... just maybe, that is why Ford is encouraging or enticing us to get the bed liner. If you look at Ford's webpage and promotional video, we don't see the bed of the truck without the liner.

We won't see the bed of the Santa Cruz either in its natural form in any of the promotions, either. I bet it's basically the same... just my guess.

My Maverick is literally 12 hours away from me right now. I am getting really excited. Disappointed with what the bare bed looks like, but certainly easy fix with a liner.

The truck bed looks horrible with all non symmetric painted bolt holes. I think they could have done a better job to make those either more symmetric or better cover them up. Not everybody is going to get a bed liner!!
are you talking about the spot welds? Im not seeing any painted bolt holes.

Yes, I have noticed that too, so the spot welds were not a big surprise to me. This was the first I've seen without the bedliner.

Congrats on getting yours so soon!

Whatever it is, it looks bad. At least they could have made them symmetric and not spreaded out randomly all over the truck bed.
Doesn’t sound like you’ve had a truck before, the bed is not a body panel, it’s meant to get stuff tossed in. You can see weld marks and paint scratches on most unlined beds, hence why it’s popular add on.

I wish they didn't put the lighter panels in the seats, they are in a perfect place to spill your coffee. That is the main reason I didn't order an XLT.
I kinda thought similar but for my XL the interior is perfect since I plan to redo in leather or something down the road

Cant believe Ford is still using htat keyfob, my first car I paid for had the exact same keyfob lol
If you want to see an old key fob design still being used... Nissan/Infiniti! Granted, I liked the size/shape so it was all good

You got it right, Big T. Bunch of unrealistic whiners on this forum. $20k, 40mpg, you bet! Where else are you going to find that? The one I saw today looked great (except for the bed) - just put on a tonneau, a topper, a liner, whatever. It's a truck.

Went out to see the truck as it's practically in my backyard. Met the new.owmer and he seemed super chill. Fairly happy with the look of the truck, sits a bit low though. Nearly as low as my focus.
