I think the XL trim is the most authentic Maverick. I still miss the steel wheels from my ancient Ranger. I could curb those things with impunity, and frequently did. I wish we could buy the XLT with steelies and save a few bucks.

I think you hit the nail on the head with “authentic”.

Replacing the steelies on my XL with Bronco or XLT take offs was on my to do list. But I have changed my mind and decided to keep the steelies.

Every time I see a FedEx or Amazon or USPS delivery van they have steelies and I realize my little truck is a tiny part of the working truck brotherhood. My truck has very few empty bed miles. It usually hauls my bicycle, or the fruit of a Home Depot run.

Sure, all the other wheels look better. But the steelies grow on you and their no nonsense work ethic is undeniable.

Congrats on your new truck! It's the same color as mine. Mine is also an Ecoboost. Been driving it for almost two months now and it's running and driving great. Only options I got were full size spare, tow hitch, and rubber bed mat. The gas mileage is better than what the EPA said. Enjoy your new ride!
