Recently bought mu 2024 Maverick XLT. The first upgrade I started was to install seat covers since I tend to abuse the interior. Installing the new seat covers, I discovered the plastic seat protector had been severely torn. See photo. I have ordered and received the replacement part but I decided to have the Ford dealer install it. Unfortunately they hadn't done this before and were not very knowledgeable how to do it. They said they would have to remove the seat that would take 1 1/2 hours of labor. At $250/hr the labor would be $375.00 to install a $90.00 part.

I found this YouTube clip of installing the part in a

in a 2020 Ford Explorer.
I haven't found a shop manual that discusses replacing this part.

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of how to do it?

Seems like you would have to unbolt the seat and unplug the airbag connector. Take the seat out and either remove the plastic screws holding it on or pop the retention clips. Good luck.

Glenn I bought the truck from a local Chevy dealer. I wasn't having much luck finding a used Mav with the local Ford dealers. When I arrived I was too excited to look closely because i was always on the drivers side. It was very clean, perfect paint, only 17K miles, new like upholstery, etc. I was really surprised when I saw the damage. It was difficult to see standing . It was obvious when I leaned over. And yes I wish I could have used it as a bargaining chip!

Take it back to the dealer you bought it from and have them do it as a courtesy. Not really acceptable to sell a vehicle in that condition.
It isn't like it was bought sight-unseen.
I don't think there is much hope going back to the dealership after the fact. As long as it's roadworthy the dealership can sell it in any cosmetic condition it is in.
It seems the OP in his own words, had the opportunity to inspect the truck. He admitted he stayed on the drivers side.
Luck of the draw buying USED🤷‍♂️

Pretty much as long as it drives. I went to buy a mav and found a used one since they were so back ordered. The one I saw had the whole passenger door panel torn up from dog paws and claws. They said I’m SOL that’s how it’s sold.

I believe it is The Chevy folks made a 120 pont inspection and said it was fine. I'm going to take it to a Ford dealer for the same.

My question is "Has anyone have experience removing the passenger seat on an XLT? Is it difficult? Does it actually need to be removed? The You tube explorer example does not remove the seat.

Just get your tools together, and go at it! If you can't get it off with the seat in the truck, then disconnect the battery and pull the seat. People change the battery all the time, and I'm sure you can handle stuff like resetting the clock if needed. You'll figure it out :) If you're really worried about pulling the seat out of the truck, just search seat replacement. I remember a couple of people have changed out the seats to ST focus or Escape seats. You could also search Escape or Bronco Sport seat removal online.

Thanks for replies but it seems no one has any actual experience . It sounds like the Dealers Service response, "We have never done this before " LOL

If you have a mechanics mirror (or small one) and good light - you can see how the plastic appears to be connected on the other side.
If you see screw heads - advice from prior posts.

And after battery hooked up (who knows, computer reboot probably a good thing!), radio stations and time will need to be setup, maybe some driver options, but I seem to recall most of those stuck.
I lost more after a recall software upgrade - and I think that was the info center for backup camera.
