My Turn- CV Axle replacement

Hi all,

Well, at 33,500 miles, my 2023 XLT started to become sluggish at acceleration with a vibration especially strong on the passenger side front area. I'm used to the truck being able to pass vehicles when changing lanes and it is definitely not doing this anymore. I also notice the engine working more often than the electrical motor. There definitely is a drop in torque when trying to accelerate. I'm taking the truck in tomorrow morning to have them confirm.

If it is only one side that is bad, I'm going to insist on them replacing both. I'm prepared that the dealer will most likely not have the axles in stock, so I am going to ask that they order them and notify me when they are in so I can schedule the repair. I don't want my truck sitting in their lot while waiting for the parts. I also have the sku#'s for the updated cv axles for the 2023 FWD Hybrid:

Passenger Side- SZ6Z-3B436-E
Drivers Side- SZ6Z-3B437-C

I'll keep you updated after tomorrow mornings visit. Visiting a dealership is always so ..... special!

Or are you thinking of the one for a 2022?

If it isn't, it would be a blessing in disguise. Either way, I got to find out what is going on.

I had the same issue a few months ago. Took a copy of the recall notice with me. The dealer had it back to me next day. They also took care of a tow module recall that i did not know about at the time. (Notice from Ford came in the mail a day or two later) No fuss or drama, they replaced both CV axles with upgraded parts.

I am wondering if the cv axle issue is limited to certain MY's and trim packages. Are some hybrid, EB Maverick MY's less likely to be affected?

according to this FB post: It's a design flaw so maybe Ford should issue some kind of bulletin or recall?

If it is a Ford backed extended warranty, it should be covered.

You can call it a ‘warranty’ item but I think the term is ‘customer satisfaction program’ or something like that.

AFAIK it’s all years prior to 2025 and they will replace free of charge even if your warranty has expired. They are acknowledging that they installed a defective part and are replacing only after it fails.

2022 is the only year that has been reported with the recall or CSP - if you have an issue - they do both sides. (very early 22 not included - they may have gotten the really good CV axle!)
Extended mileage/time past normal warranty period.

The issue was effecting pre-25MY's especially.
Wasn't it 25MY that came with the revised version that started getting installed in 25 for warranty replacements?
