CV Axle Warranty Replacement - Alignment Provided?

Hi,

I am getting one of my CV axles replaced under warranty. Is an alignment needed afterwards? If so, does the dealership cover this? My dealership is saying no to both.

Shouldn't they replaced both cv's at the same time. Sounds like something a DIYer would do. Yes they should check alignment if they were trying to be reputable.

It threw off my alignment a bit and was told to pound sound afterwards when I brought it up to the dealer-

Should be covered . ask for district ford rep . good luck. If not I would go elsewhere for alignment . CV is covered under drive train warranty 5 years 60k miles . if not find another Ford dealer .

This is warranty work.

Which is sadly why the alignment isn't included in it.
The warranty replacement procedure probably doesn't disturb the alignment - and is probably paid at half the normal book time.
Which means a non-official procedure is probably done to make it go faster - and that probably does disturb the alignment.

Thank manufacturers for paying less for warranty work - I've heard most do that.

I get it but that's terrible service.

Email the head of service or the dealership GM. Tell them they either do the alignment or you take your service business elsewhere, for this and everything else you have done by the dealer. If you get all your service done at the same dealer, they will sometimes step in to keep the business. Worst they say is no and you just go somewhere else.

Good luck arguing with dealer on that.

Of course always pay your own money to get the non-problem side done at the same time.

If there's no change in the steering and suspension links, and there's negligible slop in their bolted connections to the knuckle, then the effect on the alignment should also be negligible.

If you unbolt and replace anything on a front suspension, alignment should be checked. Any good mechanic would say so. Cheaping out on a warranty claim is underhanded and a short cut to save money and make profit.

If part of the recall on 22MY - then you got it done not under warranty but under that program.
Which is your 1 and only now.

In contrast to year bought, or year made, which may confusion in discussions.
