I miss the old cars.
AM/FM and maybe a cassette player.
Buttons knobs and levers to control everything. So simple.
I like my Mav just fine but
I truly think all these screens are good for nothing. All bull shit.
Except making vehicles more complex and expensive.

But No, we love shiny thing’s dangling in our faces, why on earth do we feel the need to be entertained in this way.

And to those that got to have all that data on what the vehicle is doing, to make things better. I say your completely missing out on the ride itself.

I was well aware of automobiles going to crap when they put a freaking check engine light on the dash.
Now look at them,
So complex and expensive to repair you better buy an extended warranty.
Unibody, one good thump and it’s totaled.
$700 for a head light assembly,
No bumpers just plastic covering something harder.
Trucks, even mini trucks should be tank tough.
They were once.

We all got screwed and the best part, they/them made us love it.
My three Rangers ALL had "Physical" Controls... (Cables/Linkages/etc...)
NOW... Its' ALL "Fly-By-Wire"... All those electrons... YIKES.. o_O

Wow! I bought about $100 worth of " stick on tactile pushbuttons" but never found a size that actually worked well. I somehow missed these on my search but I will give them a try!

Remember those vcr or dvd player tv’s that hung on the back of the front seats to keep the kids in the back entertained?

I seemed to remember it was against the law to have one in the front where the driver could see it. Too distracting right !
I could be wrong. But now they got these infotainment systems up front.
Just saying..

Can I tell my truck “set temp to 70” or equivalent & no touchscreen button to find? If so - I’m very grateful for your tip. Read the Manual?
https://www.ford.com/support/how-tos/search/using sync voice commands/#voicecommands

I hate voice commands as much as the next guy, but if my windshield's icing up in a bad storm and I don't want to take my eyes off the road, you can bet I'm hitting that button and telling the truck to set Max defrost.

Keep in mind that a short press on the voice assistant button brings up the truck's voice assistant (Sync 3 / Sync 4) and this one can set temperature, etc.
A long press brings up your phone's voice assistant (Siri / Android assistant / Gemini etc) which can't control temperature etc

I was actually looking at a 2025 and then seen where the controls were at and said to myself now that’s going to be an issue. I enjoy actual knobs and switchs and buttons easier to use with gloves on or on bouncy roads blah blah blah (being a Tremor didn’t hurt either 😱)

Might be useful with thick gloves. I see no other reason for this.

This just screams for a professional solution-- Mabett and Maxzina, get on it! Clear screen protector with pre-measured raised "buttons" that are easy to spot and tactile. Since these Maverick digital buttons never move, this should be an easy product.

How about a grid of 500-700 buttons in clear transparent plastic and you can push the button that is over the spot of the displayed screen button? Maybe include the "That was Easy!" Recording the staples easy button had".

I'm not opposed to this idea. It would be nice to have a tactile feel when 'blindly' trying to reach for and find the controls.

I know, i know, voice commands. And the 2025 does do them pretty well, as long as you don't have others trying to talk to you or others in the vehicle. Then you need to tell everyone to shut up for 30 seconds while I talk to my car.

I still more often than not reach for the buttons, since I don't like to have to talk to my car.

Not to mention getting the screen message pop up = " Driver needs to take a nap" or something similar while looking for a button with a caveman, Egyptian, Aztec, or Mayan drawing symbolizing what you wish to do. 😁

I never seen this, and wondered how or when it triggers.
I've disabled the "driver attention" option, its probably related to that.

Most likely. Lane drifting and/or nodding head and/or looking for fan speed/defrost/seat heat/etc button. Been thinking about slightly opening mouth and halfway closing eye lids to check if that would cause it, also.
