I totally agree with OzarkBeard on this. Do a build on the Ford Website first
he's done several, but really, there's only 3 options; the color, the hybrid and the lux pkg.

I wonder if y'all have any suggestions tips or advice when building it with the salesman. I got lucky and bought mine off the lot, and didn't go thru the build process, so any advice is welcome.
PCO, it is the same old bell-shaped curve: NOT ALL DEALERSHIPS ARE ALIKE. There are horror stories and there are Shirley Temple stories. I was my dealership's first Maverick sale, and handed over to a young kid salesman. Six months into my order, the kid had left and I was turned over to another salesman. I didn't know what to expect when my truck arrived. When it arrived, I was treated like the King of England, and have been treated that way ever since. I have been on Cloud Nine up until 30 minutes ago, when one of your posters mentioned dealer add-ons. My invoice included a $500 Dealer Processing Fee. My salesman was sheepishly apologetic and said that that fee is required by Maryland and not the dealership. Well, I just googled it, and according to Wikipedia, Maryland ALLOWS a dealership to charge a processing fee, UP TO $500. So, goodbye Shirley Temple.

Lux package in Texas? It's a winter package. Maybe it's cold in West Texas. I feel like Lux is "take it or leave it".

Look for X-plan pricing. If your son doesn't qualify for it at his work join Mustang Club of America for one year. This will knock a couple hundred off the price of the Maverick and limit dealer fees to $150. Saved me $800 total on my Mav.

A lot of good advice is being posted here. Note that a list of dealership recommendations and warnings is available here (click on the word 'here' to be taken to a Google Sheet that a couple of folks maintain for MTC).

Go to Granger. Last I heard they still had $1000 off and will pick him up at the airport. You wont have any hassle or markups, just nice quick chat, a bottle of water and off you go. Last I heard that had good allocations too.

If you really want to order one and not look for one on the lot( there's alot out there) dealer allocation is key to getting it quickly. I ordered mine and had it in 5 months. Also request a lower priority number. Over 20 is stock order. 19 is "when ever" 10 is "let's get er done" lower than 10 is a unicorn. Good luck.

Dealer priority codes are now 3 to 19, lower the better but that’s just for That Dealers Orders, doesn’t affect Fords build priority. Dealer Allocation is King along with Constrained Parts. The trim level plays a part also, XL and Hybrid seem to take longer sometimes

Not sure what part of Ft Worth you're in, but I got mine from Ford Country in Lewisville. They didn't jerk me around when it came time for delivery(service dept kind of sucks though). I know there is a Ford Country in HEB area with same owner so theoretically they would act same on delivery.

Put in an order. I bet it is scheduled within a couple weeks. I had my Granger one scheduled in 2 days. (Exact same build, with a March 18 build date)
Plus, atleast around New England and most of the east coast, it is hard find that configuration. Almost all have copilot if they have Lux.

Good luck and enjoy once you have it!

Well he's order it. He's finalizing his choice when he gets home and salesman at 5 star n richland hills, tells him about delivery constraints.

Thanks to everyone for chiming in.

Just be aware IIRC you have to be a member for 90 days prior to ordering (or is it delivery?) in either case check with the dealer.

He may also want to play the ford pass points game. You automatically earn ford points for the vehicle purchase. If you get the ford credit card you can pay for at least part of your down payment with it and earn lots more points. I did this and my dealer applied the points to getting a spray in bed liner which saved me several hundred dollars.

So talk to the dealer in advance about what products or services they will accept points for as payment.

I guess that's why things on my order are happening fast. My order code is 03. Ordered on 12/28, first scheduled build week 03/04, then moved to this week 02/26.

Delivery. Just have to show up with the PIN whenever you come in to sign the paperwork.
