@LastDog, we’re screwed. AGAIN.

Just got home from the dealer without my truck - got to drive it around their parking lot but FoMoCo won’t let them sell it to me until the airbag is fixed, and there is no ETA on the part being available. Looks like I get an extra special level of torture for this, as I’ll get to visit my truck in their lot for another few months.

Built on the last day of the recall window. FML. 🤬
Wolfe Jet; I checked my VIN on the Ford recall website <https://www.ford.com/support/recalls/> and it says my VIN has no active recalls. I wonder if that info is accurate given Ford's track record of keeping us informed. Have you checked that website to see if it reflects your situation?

@LastDog I just checked. It also says no recalls there… Just sent a screenshot to my salesman to see if there’s any wiggle room or loophole, will let you know what they say. Let me know if your dealer makes any headway there…

Wow, that is great news. I looked at your previous postings and note your truck was built in late September. Do you mind posting your confirmed order date, and "In Production" date? My "In Production" date was 7/8/2022 but my shipping date was held till the end of September because of a microchip hold -- or that's what Ford told me. I am hopeful that sometime between 7/8/2022 and the end of September Ford managed to fix our truck's airbags.

The results of your recall check and "in Production" and shipping dates do not seem to bode well for our situation. I'll let you know what my dealer determines.

Wolfe Jet: My dealer has confirmed that our truck has the airbag recall. He has emailed me a download from a Ford OASIS website showing that information about 12:30pm today. Interestingly, the downloaded info calls the situation a "Field Service Action", not a "Recall." Also, it shows the Warranty Starti Date of "7/8/2022", our "In Production" date. That Warranty Start Date will cause a formal complaint lodged against Ford if the so-called Field Service Action causes a delivery delay till sometime in January 2023 or later!!! Do you have any information about your Warranty Start Date? I have a voice mail to my dealer and am awaiting further explanation.

I’ve seen other threads about this issue in the Recalls part of the forum, and we are far from alone in getting the short end of the stick. Ford’s stick only seems to have short ends.

The part that is really making me insane is that our trucks sat in Mexico for 2+ months waiting for the chips, when the plant had the airbags, and chose to not fix it then and ship them as-is. That is the most egregious part to me.

I’m going to go by the dealer every couple of weeks and ask to drive mine around the lot for a while, as it can’t be good for the truck to just sit undriven, one has to think the hybrid battery needs to refresh every so often, or we’ll wind up with an additional problem once the airbags get fixed.

My 2017 C-Max Hybrid sat around the lot for a year before I bought it. Nobody wanted them in 2017...LOL. My Hybrid battery has been great since then, but when I did buy the car in 1/2018, the dealer had to install a new 12 volt battery. It lasted until 8/2022. Id worry more about that sitting, as my C-Max guide says if left for over 30 days, it should be on a charger for the 12 volt battery.

Wolfe Jet: Just got off the phone with my dealer. He confirms that he will not be able to sell the truck once it arrives there. He did agree that I can drive it to my heart's content on their lot!! He also told me a tale of woe about his new Mustang. He can't drive it in the rain as there is a wiper problem and they can get the parts -- so he only drives it on sunny days after watching the weather report. He also said our truck's warranty will not actually start till we take possession. He thinks Ford will want to resolve the airbag fixes for trucks on dealer lots before year's end so their sales numbers will reflect before then.

Wolfe Jert: Another wrinkle has arisen for me. I have a military appreciation discount certificate that expires on 1/3/2023. I am now trying the determine how to get the discount extended if my dealer can't sell the truck to us by that date. Do you have a discount certificate of some sort? If so, what's your expiration date?

Thank you for your service.
I had to get a renewal on my X-Plan PIN, as it was only good til mid-December. Ford should just automatically extend all certificates/PINs/etc. We all did our part in good faith.

Wolfe Jet. This really hurts as previously delivered trucks' owners are driving their trucks till their dealers get airbag parts while our trucks sit on dealer's lots awaiting airbag parts for who knows how many months. I called my dealer this morning; he cannot yet tell me when our truck will leave the Poe lot or when it will be delivered. He also is yet to answer my query about the potential airbag delay for our truck.
This is bad news. 😬

I am in an almost exactly same position as "LastDog" with my Lariat Lux. Built July 5th, on chip hold yada yada until late September, shipped to Dealer and then delivery was blocked by FOMOCO due to airbag nonsense. We are told the 1st quarter 2023 for parts even as they build and delver Mavs ever since July 10th! NHTSA at fault? FOMOCO? Why do new cars have compliant airbags but those of us with undelivered new cars cannot even access those same parts sources for our almost delivered cars. INFURIATING!

Ford Maverick My ordering, production and delivery timeline so far FoMoCo Recall 22C20

larryhokie: Thanks for the info. I guess your truck did not get caught in the time warp that others like Wolfe Jet, dhvgb1, and I have found our truck orders. build-then hold because of chip shortage-then install the chips and ship knowing there is an outstanding recall that will further delay delivery.
