I'd be worried about that very visible thing walking off. Even if it is the cheapest box/woofer there is, some dummy will smash your window and cut the wires if they think they can get $20 for it. Maybe you have that mitigated already...
there's no mitigation for meth heads.

besides major aesthetics issues, yes, I would not advise doing this because of the very high risk of smash & grab theft. redesign the box to fit under the seat, or buy a prebuilt box. (there's now at least 3 options.)

I would be more worried about someone hitting me and that thing flying around the cab.

Your point is well taken. I moved the rider's seat all the way forward and wedged the sub between the front and rear seats on the floor. This solution is not for everyone since most have passengers which I do not. I have my other car for passengers but I could easily remove the sub if need be. Still sounds great.

After reading the thread, I have to say I am a little disappointed as I was expecting it to be about Seattle grunge music...

I am a few months away from 61 and I am fairly happy with the B&O system. It sounded like crap when I first drove it off the lot (coming from an stock 8 speaker system in my Vue), even my wife said as much. It took me a little while to play with the equalizer and balance but I think I have it dialed in. This is the first vehicle I have had that has a subwoofer so I think I am good for now. It gets the center rearview mirror vibrating without making all of the exterior trim pieces vibrating.
The B&O is system is fine, you just have to tailor it to your tastes...

I have a 2023 Lariat Hybrid with B&O sound system. It was ok but even age age 69 I sometimes feel the need to blast Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, etc.

My first upgrade was swapping out the front door speakers and dash tweeters to Rockford Fosgate R1675-S.
https://www.crutchfield.com/p_575R1675S/Rockford-Fosgate-R1675-S.html

I had previously tried upgrading the B&O sub with a Dayton Audio DCS165-4 6-1/2" Classic Subwoofer. The existing B&O amp did not make this a worthwhile upgrade. Wasted about $100 with all accessories. I decided to add something bigger but still relatively low cost.

I got a Rockville W10K6D4 V2 10" Car Audio Subwoofer with Box Enclosure from one of the better Ebay sellers for $132.90. I had something like this in the back of my Toyota Tacoma and it sounded great.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/303258114245

Amazon sells just the bare sub for $84.00 (4/5 star reviews at 88%)
https://www.amazon.com/Rockville-W10K6D4-V2-Subwoofer-Compliant/dp/B07BN65GTG/

I also got an Audiozerone class D mono amp 350W RMS into 2 ohms from Amazon for $68.00. (5 star reviews at 90%)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CMCKR2MS

I installed them the other day. The sealed box is way too big for under the seat or behind the seat. Since I rarely have passengers in the rear seats (I use my Prius for passengers) I put the sub on the seat and strapped it in with a seat belt. I have to say it sounds amazing. It turns the amp on and off quickly with the existing sub connection (no remote wire needed). I mounted the amp under the rear seat. All the connections I needed were right there so it was very easy. The source for the amp is the existing subwoofer wire. I left the old subwoofer in place but disconnected. I also used Forscan to set to Flat EQ which was very easy. I did not yet swap out the center speaker but I might at some point. The rear speakers are not worth upgrading. I will probably disconnect them.
And that's when what was left of your hearing from listening to The Doors, Zeppelin, The Stones, and Jim Croce in the '70s disappeared (jk about Croce). :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Post up a photo of your settings... still tinkering with mine and would be interested to see what yours is set to!

If it is any consolation I listen to Nirvana on my car system and I wear Converse sneakers just like Kurt.
It is probably just as well you cannot hear what my system sounds like. If you did, you could never go back to the stock B&O imo.
Nah, he’s 61…. So born in 1963. Rock concerts were already at 140 db in his early teens. And 2,000 watt car stereos were around by the time he was 25. And same with all the night clubs. When pounding bass became a thing, circa 1985, we all get exposed to very high sound pressure levels. And then some time around 2010 we all started hearing that ringing in our ears and realized that conversations now sound muted and we have to be looking directly at someone to understand what they are saying. And we all stopped adding aftermarket amps and big speakers to our car stereos because we know it is just going to accelerate the already apparent hearing loss.

I am 69 born in 1955 and have seen about 200 rock concerts so I am lucky I can hear at all. My ears ring to this day 24/7. However, I can still hear what good bass sounds like and my stock B&O did not cut it for me.
