The dealership should find the unclaimed hybrid for you. They botched the deal, they need to put some effort into making things right.

I would also like to know if the dealer had him sign and date a build sheet (usually a DORA) and took a copy of his DL because if the dealer didn't do that then the dealer would never have been able to verify the order in the ROVP system and on 11/18+ the dealer would have informed by Ford that the order would not be built.
Not sure about DORA as never received one. The salesman could not put my order in. Call back the next day and then finally on the third day talked with the sales manager that his boss want the manager to put the order in. Before that the sale manager asked me to just order it online. Then told him on line could not picked them as it just listed the 3 or 4 closest dealer with no way to increase the selection range. The sales manager did online and quoted me the same price as mrsp with the same acquisition fee. Then when found out about situation as Rick on Nov 17 called asking for a copy of the ROVP. Then next day he text msg the ROVP. Called that number and he apologize saying he was out of the office. Also later called about getting a x-plan pin. He said just give it to them when the truck comes in. Also asked about total orders the dealership had and would not tell me except was around in the middle and my order was Oct 26th. Actually ordered on Oct 25 and finally in on 27th and ROVP printout says midnight Oct 28th. Regarding my trade in said they could later when near delivery time as used car price could change and how some people were using Carvana.

Long winded but could not get anything in writing. Even with saying having a friend die suddenly in a motorcycle accident. He said sorry about my friend and he did have a heart issue this summer. So not like Rick as have an ROVP printout with my name ROVP id and Order number. But no DORA or build sheet.

Ricerl401 so what happened as could have missed it but did not see what you ended up doing.

Just found out that my hybrid order was never formally placed by the dealership! I placed the order and gave them a $500 deposit back in early August, but they never "finalized" it. Of course Ford won't take any more hybrid orders until next summer, so I am basically f**ked!
Considering my options:
1.) They'll give me my deposit back and I am back to square one.
2.) I can wait and see if a customer ends up canceling their hybrid order and I step in.
3.) I order with an ecoboost engine and they say they can get me a higher priority code.

I am kind of leaning toward #3. Obviously it's more $$$ and lower mpg, but need to calm down a bit before I decide.
Has anyone been unhappy with going with the ecoboost engine option? And did you upgrade to the AWD and do you think that is was worth the bang for the extra buck?
How do they wait 4 months to NOT place an order? First call Ford customer service to see if the did order it and just want to sell it to someone else for more money, you can move an order to a different dealer. Sounds like dealer is clueless on how to order though so do #1 and find a better dealership, then do #3 and while you wait get on their list to do #2. I was late to the game and didn't get my hybrid order in on time but I got one this week be doing #2. You just need good salesperson that will call you at a big dealership where they have lots of orders coming in.

How many possible hybrid orders do they have that a customer may back out of?
If they did that to you, do you really think they will try to “find” you one if someone backs out of their hybrid order??? Get your money and go to another dealer. we missed the hybrid order cutoff date by about a week…. So we just decided to order the EB and go with it for now.
