IIRC, Ford's BlueCruise is a step above the CP360 on the Maverick and is more advanced. It is not available on any Maverick--yet. Maybe someone who knows more can answer.

BlueCruise is not available on any trim level of Maverick.

BlueCruise is a subscription service with a trial period. One component of the system is a camera in the interior facing the driver, whose function is to monitor that the driver is paying attention to driving. If you are not looking forward or have something in your hands, BlueCruise turns off.

Just because a vehicle with this type of technology was in a crash does not mean that it was the system's fault, or possibly even the driver's fault. Here's the details on the CR-V incident: https://www.ntsb.gov/investigations/Pages/HWY24FH006.aspx

A witness who had been traveling in the center lane of eastbound I-10 in front of the Ford reported that she encountered the stopped Honda in the center lane and that the vehicle’s tail or hazard lights were not illuminated. The witness changed lanes to the right to avoid striking the vehicle and later, in her rearview mirror, saw another vehicle strike the stopped Honda.
There is a lot less detail in the other incident report: https://www.ntsb.gov/investigations/Pages/HWY24FH008.aspx

Thanks for the links. Interesting reading. For me the technology is and will be evolving for quite some time. I operated a part time computer repair service for years out of my home. Signed up for as a beta tester and had some fun with that for a few years. When Windows 8 and 8.1 both came out most anyone who was a computer nerd knew it was junk compared to "7". No one took our word. I feel the software (and hardware) folks at Ford have a lot more testing to accomplish and problems to work out. While not catastrophic (yet) , our Mavericks and many other newer automobiles still need much refinement in the tech area. Unfortunately, this is almost always at the expense of the consumer, as WE are the beta testing bunch. Think of the money this saves the corporation and how fast a new product can get on the market! My friend, who loves the newest, brightest toys says I need to get on to the new gadget train and calls me a Neanderthal type. I totally disagree, I have moved up to the Cro-Magnon level several years ago! Hope Ford gets all these bugs worked out on our vehicles. I tow mine behind the motorhome and is the only reason I bought a Maverick. So far, no big problems out of my XLT Hybrid, but being a Toyota fan will most likely shift back to them if they make something flat towable in the near future. Again, thanks for the information, nice to get informed accurate information and I do enjoy my morning read on this and other Mav sites!
