Has anyone come up with ideas on how to mount a exterior plug for your block heater instead of popping your hood each time to plug it in. just looking for ideas I was going to try to go mount one where the side badges is but I cannot find one small enough to fit in the recessed part of the badge.

I was just eyeballing the stupid placement of that block heater plug end, and thinking about making up a one foot extension to route down beside the radiator so that you can actually use it. I don't want to be lifting a hood in deep ice and snow every time I want to preheat the engine.

I don't need one, but that is a great idea! If anyone asks what it is, just tell them it is a prototype of a new PHEV that Ford is working on!

Perhaps on the underside of the bumper using a protected plug. I think the cord could be routed and the plug installed with just removing the under engine cover as one does when changing engine oil.

I used to have the end of the plug hanging out of the grill a little bit just above the bumper on my old truck.

I rerouted the block heater plug to the drivers side, and added an all-weather plug to the cover beside the tow hook. Plenty of space, but right to get to. Block heater plug link
