I got beat in stop light drag races twice last week- by a 10yr old Chevy pickup and an Altima. :(

Both times were about a quarter mile away from a right-hand cloverleaf highway entrance which I could easily take 15mph faster than both cars I was stuck behind did..... :( :(
Again, it's relative. A car that can go around a corner quickly is fast in that setting. Straight line performance isn't as enjoyable to me. You can enjoy a great handing car legally. You can't enjoy a powerful straight line car that much legally unless you go to a racetrack. You can do an acceleration pull for a few seconds, that's it. With great handing cars, you can have fun all the time and never get a ticket.

Sure but if traffic is beating me enough that I'm stuck doing slooooooooow speed behind them around a radically fun cloverleaf... :D One of them everyone goes 30mph around it then tries to merge uphill into 65-70mph traffic at 50mph. I can take it at 35-50mph and be at the same speed as traffic if I'm not behind anyone and push it in 3rd through 5th gear...

(2000 Miata, stock motor and ride height with a few suspension stiffener mods)

Sounds like Miatas are not for you. You should sell it and let someone who can appreciate it have a chance at loving it. Might I suggest a Hemi Charger as your next vehicle? Then you can beat the traffic your Miata is losing to.

The vehicles I have owned:
1993 Toyota Celica GT
2010 Ford Mustang Premuim Coupe
2015 Chevy Camaro LS2
2019 Ford Ranger XLT
2020 Honda Ridgeline Sport
2024 Ford Maverick XLT FX4

Most fun? Easily my 2010 Ford Mustang. I LOVED that car. Leather seats, leather wrapped wheel, all-time amazing Shaker auto system. I sadly lost it to a fire. After I lost that car, I never could fill the void for years. Runner up would be my Celica GT (pop-up headlights FTW).

I only have 250 miles on my Maverick so far after a week of ownership. I have loved driving it thus far. It easily could become my next favorite vehicle of all-time.

My top ten cars in order of fun:
10. 70 Chevy Chevelle SS 396
9. 1980 Honda Civic Manual
8. 2024 Ford Maverick and mainly for its engine - certainly not for its handling!
7. 1986 Honda Accord - There's a reason they are named Car and Driver cars of he year often
6. 1964 Chevy Corvair - 4" of fresh snow, a big parking lot = tons of fun
5. 1957 Chevy Belair with a 305 CC engine and a 3 sp. A street drag racing phenom. 0-60 in 1st
4. 1960 Chevy Impala convertible - my first car
3. 1967 MGB convertible - summers only
2. 1969 Z-28 RS Camaro 4 sp, tuned to 450 hp - tires were the main holdback.
1. 2020 Honda Civic Type R - one of the most sophisticated chassis you will find at any price.

I currently use the Honda for tracking and an occasional warm day drive. So the Maverick is my daily driver and as I've indicated in other posts is one of the numbest vehicles I've driven. I suppose I really shouldn't have expected too much. But I do like the engine and the drivetrain seems to work well in sport mode, so that's where I drive most of the time. But please this is NOT a good handling vehicle!

It's biggest drawbacks are the steering feel and the idiotic software. Do we really need to keep hitting OK for every stinking thing that pops up on the dash while we are trying to get to the menu for something else.

It's been a while since I thought about all the cars I've owned, but I'll give it a try.

In order of most fun:
1-2019 GT350. Amazing Voodo sound, sticky tires, corners beyond my abilities, totally civilized when you want it to be, always a smile.

2-2003 Miata. Such a nice shifting transmission, had adjustable shocks so it cornered like it was on rails, just enough power that you could have fun without worrying about over doing it.

3-2005 RX8. It's a rotary, no more explanation needed.

4-1967 Cougar. Classic V8, all the looks, a very different driving experience.

5-2018 Mazda 3. Zippy, sporty, great daily driver.

6-1998 Escort ZX2. My first car, I modified every part of it, fun to drive and lots of memories, built in the same factory as my maverick!

7-2015 F150 5.0. Plenty of power, fast for a big truck, goes thru anything, tows, hauls, plays in the snow.

8-1993 Mercury Sable. $300 beater car, unstoppable, could drive it without a care in the world!

9-2024 Maverick. Comfortable, practical, economical, versatile.

Not ranked: 1985 F150, 2004 Jeep Liberty Renegade, 2009 Lincoln MKS.

in chronological order and fairly close in enjoyment level.

1979 Toyota pickup SR5 2wd 20R

1979 Opel Manta 1900 5 sp with performance shocks and tires.

1999 Toyota Tacoma 4wd xtra cab RZFE automatic.

1994 Toyota pickup 4wd single cab 22RE.

2014 Nissan Juke AWD automatic.

2023 Maverick XLT 2.0 Ecoboost FX4 Tow Luxury w/ sunroof.

most of the 25+ motorcycles I've had would top this list, but they were ridden not driven.

helping a neighbor restore a 1958 Chevrolet Apache pickup, huge cool factor but I expect it to drive like a school bus.
