I recently added Mabett’s truck bed divider to my Maverick. As it comes from Mabett, it is a great addition to my truck bed. The divider can come separately, or if your Maverick does not have the bed side rails, it can be ordered with the required rails. The divider slides fore and aft along the rails and can be securely locked in the position of your choosing. A feature Mabett’s divider offers, not shared by similar products, is that it can be flipped and secured from the normal vertical position to a horizonal orientation. This allows you to transport long items without interference or having to remove the divider. Sliding or tilting the divider is accomplished by loosening and tightening bolts with a hex key.
As good as the product is out of the box, I have added to the product’s utility, first by doing away with the need for a tool to adjust the divider. Calling on some specialty hardware, I can now slide, tilt, or remove the divider as needed in a matter of a few minutes. I owe this useful modification to Mike Tucciarelli, the owner of the well-known TONKA Maverick. I followed his earlier postings to accomplish the mod. I also found that the cheapest place to obtain all the metric hardware used in this project was AliExpress. The drawback of using them is the long delay in receiving the items once ordered.
The second mod I completed capitalized on the divider’s open framework. I added several Molle pouches to hold miscellaneous items. I also added a pair of tool mounts. For now, they hold an extendable reaching tool to drag items from the far end of the bed. Last, I turned attention to the side rails. Again, using simple hardware, I added eight adjustable tiedown anchors, two on either side of the divider on both sides of the bed. Heavy weight anchors using lifting shoulder eye bolts are forward anticipating that heavier loads will be pushed forward. Lighter D-rings are found toward the tailgate.
I extend my thanks to Mabett for continuing to introduce new products that allow us Maverick owners to make our truck uniquely our own.
