Thank you for the pontification. We disagree.you are oversimplifying things and making assumptions off that. Even though the platform is shared with Escape and Bronco sport- some things are unique to each. How do you know an existing seat will FIT in space between the Maverick center console (unique to the Mav) and the passenger door? How do you know the mounting points are already installed in the Maverick floor pan? How do you know the wiring harness has existing attachment points for the seat adjust controls, belt buzzer, airbag, etc? If not there that's a new part # to add to BOM (Bill Of Materials) and any Change to BOM requires system wide revisions of the files. What if the colors and materials are different between Maverick, Escape and Bronco Sport- even if the exact same seat fits seamlessly into the available space in Maverick? There may be vendors/ordering/lead time issues. How do you know Ford didn't already analyze projected purchases on this option and decided it wasn't worth the changes and hassle for the tiny % of people that would want the option stand alone and would not be feasible to include in any existing trim package? I spent a good portion of my career in manufacturing and production in many positions from design through final QA and out to the consumers and can tell you this isn't as simple/easy/cheap as people assume looking in from the outside.
That’s basically what Activ-X is on the Lariat seats. I think the vinyls these days are more supple than Naugahyde which has been arofor eonsOne word: Naugahyde
Auto dim mirror is widely available from custom installers, do an internet search in your area. Had auto dim in my last vehicle and hated it, it doesn’t get as dark as the standard mirror (I’ve had six eye surgeries so very sensitive to glare) and if the sun is shining through the back window on your mirror it doesn’t darken. I can flip the little lever... it’s easyPower passenger seat and auto dim rearview mirror. Mostly the rearview mirror, since my wife rarely adjusts the seat.
Having grown up in DFW, black leather seating makes me think of cooking eggs on truck bonnets (yes you really can do that)Black leather interior on the Lariat, also upgraded audio in the Lariat without having to drop several thousand more for an entire luxury package. Looks like I'll be going aftermarket for the audio if the stock system isn't strong.
I plan on dropping my own in and going as basic as I can for one. $80 for the mirror and the wiring, and will take maybe 30 minutes to install. Beyond that, mine has everything else I want and then some. Maybe Ford can offer a DIO kit of the same mirror for like $300 installed? (Gentex GENK2AM mirror, no HomeLink, compass, temp, or other features). And a tip I learned from a tint shop: A light tint on the mirror can do wonders, but few can cut them to remove small sections over light sensors in the glass area.Auto dim mirror is widely available from custom installers, do an internet search in your area. I get that they're offering a low price point entry level Maverick, the XL. People keep saying that the Maverick is an entry level vehicle, and I don't see it. Nothing that I've heard from Ford suggests they're trying to do anything but offer a new class of small truck. One that happens to have an entry-level price point on a basic trim. Historically the Lariat trim has been a very optioned out trim level. In the case of the Lariat trim with the Maverick, in some ways it is optioned out and in someways it's not.If you really need all the high end goodies then by all means buy a high end vehicle. The Mav is designed as a entry level vehicle and priced accordingly
I get your point on the basic XL trim or even the XLT.. I think the basic trim entry level is one hell of a deal. However Ford is offering the Lariat trim levels and historically it has been a very upgraded trim level. However on the Lariat it seems to be a bit of Lariat lite. I still don't see where Ford is saying this is supposed to be a cheapo entry level truck. They are offering a cheap entry level version of this truck, but what it seems to me is they're trying to offer a new class of truck. Just like the Ranger you can get a stripped version a mid range or you can get one that's decked out.I just find these threads kind of funny. The Maverick is competing against ENTRY level SUVs and cars on price. My first car was a new 1999 Honda Civic CX. Entry level with no options back then meant stick, AM/FM radio, power nothing, no cruise and No A/C.
Now entry level means no navigation (but an 8 inch screen where I can wirelessly play music from my phone, or connect and navigate with it and do other android auto things - also I was just looking and Honda's entry level HRV and Civic get 5 inch screens...), a backup camera (Honda's base backup doesn't have the advanced lines!), A/C, power windows and doors, safety features.
Heck, my Mid-trim 2019 Ranger XLT with a $40K sticker still doesn't have push button start or heated seats. First world problems.
The nitpicking going on here over a nicely spec'd entry level truck is just amusing!![]()
Very true, but if I’m getting all the safety features that come with CoPilot 360, does that make it more difficult/complicated, since there will be wiring going through the mirror?Auto dim mirror is widely available from custom installers, do an internet search in your area. Unknown. The aftermarket is usually pretty good at addressing installation issues. Check your dealer, they may offer through an outside source.Very true, but if I’m getting all the safety features that come with CoPilot 360, does that make it more difficult/complicated, since there will be wiring going through the mirror?
Cool. Honestly, I probably won’t do anything to switch it, but it’s good to have options.Unknown. The aftermarket is usually pretty good at addressing installation issues. Check your dealer, they may offer through an outside source.
