International awareMy kid drew that truck with Crayons for the Classy Chassis Art Show......when she was 3.![]()
Same thing folks said in the late 60's and 70's about little known companies Datsun and Toyota..I feel 'ya

I never (myself) said that about Japanese cars. Not copies! They were innovative and designed to meet the market. My 1st new car was a 1981 Toyo Kogyo (Mazda)GLC Sport… 1st attempt at FWD. Liked it so much I bought an RX7 in 1983 and still have it.Same thing folks said in the late 60's and 70's about little known companies Datsun and Toyota..![]()
It's a unibody designLooks ugly from the side.
Isn't that a Maverick copy?No offense to any Chinese readers, but they should really stick to what they do. Making less expensive, comparable copies of other countries' stuff. When they start designing their own, things go off the rails pretty quickly.
Major manufacturers are establishing in ChinaInteresting 25 min. video
China is evolving quickly from copying to innovation. Only to get better with time.
At 71 I won't see any turnaround in the U.S. We've fallen so far behind, being the Industrial and technological country we once were. In my opinion, It will take a minimum 50 to 75 years to turn this country around. It happens to all civilizations. Roman Empire is a good example.
The U.S peaked in 1979.
Deindustrialization in the United States The manufacturing sector peaked in employment around 1979 at 19.6 million jobs, but signs of decline emerged earlier. Post-World War II global competition, particularly from Japan and Germany, eroded U.S. dominance in industries like steel and automobiles.
When did most manufacturing leave the US?
Between 1980 and 1985, and then again 2001 to 2009, there were precipitous declines in US manufacturing jobs; it is estimated that 1/3 of U.S. manufacturing jobs vanished in the eight years between 2001 and 2009, and few have returned, the worst period for U.S. manufacturing since the Great Depression.
An interpretation maybe, definitely not a copy. The Maverick is a handsome vehicle that doesn't try too hard. That thing is butt ugly with a grille only a mother could love.Isn't that a Maverick copy?
You mean a grille that a Hyundai owner would like. The jumbo grille was originally designed by a Japanese engineer, but I can’t find his name. Those things “got to go”. Lexus was like artwork that became a comic book cover. An interpretation maybe, definitely not a copy. The Maverick is a handsome vehicle that doesn't try too hard. Its an ugly unibody design, then. It's a unibody design
