The gaps between the tailgate and the side of the truck look smaller than mine. Did you ever use a hoist attached to the sides to hold a load in the bed? I have heard tell of that possibly causing this issue if pulled too tight.
I love my Maverick. But I also have a Kia. I think the Kia is the finest car for the money you can buy. Make sure to test drive. For me it's also about how easy it is to get in and out of the vehicle.
I had a 2024 Hybrid Lariat fwd for 1.5 years and managed a lifetime average of 49.8 mpg.
I've only had my new 2026 Hybrid Lariat awd since February (2,000 mi), and so far my lifetime average is 44.8.
I did notice my 2024 lifetime average took 1.5 years (5,000mi) to max out. Maybe the 2026 will...
My bad, I did not realize there was a left and right mode button. I thought there was just one and it scrolled all the way through. It works perfectly using the right button to go back the other way. I'm too old for this tech Schmidt. lol.
I accidentally toggled into "Slippery" mode the other day and was unable to get out of that mode until I stopped and turned off the truck. It returned to normal when I restarted the truck, which is what it normally does.
Is it normal that you can't get out of slippery mode while driving?
I have these as well. I really like the look and I don't like the idea of the stick-on. I did notice a little bit of increased wind noise at highway speeds but I assume that is the case with them all.
Low tire pressure maybe?
I keep my pressure at the max rating for the tires.
My current all time MPG is 43.2
My elevation here is 10'. Yes, 10 feet, I don't know if elevation changes MPG significantly.
I noticed the phrase "price point" multiple times. Price is one of the best facts of the Maverick. Most of these so called issues are the things that go along with buying one of the lowest priced vehicles, let alone pickups on the market.
I Loved my first and now the second Maverick that I have...
I am on my 3rd Hybrid.
My first was the Mercury Mariner Hybrid, I had for 10 years and never needed to replace the hybrid battery.
I recently traded in my 2024 Maverick Lariat FWD hybrid, lifetime MPG 49.7.
I now have a 2026 AWD Lariat hybrid, so far at 43 MPG but that will go up over time.
I...
