Sounds about right. I just recently did about 1600 mile round trip run to pick up a 1 ton mini excavator I bought. On the trip back with the excavator I averaged around 13 MPG with ~3500lbs of weight at an average speed of 70MPH using tow haul mode. Even with the cost of gas and hotel room it was a no brainer considering how much they wanted for freight shipping.
I have a '25 Lariat with the Hybrid & a 4K tow. Confused about the front surface drag, tongue weight, and total weight.
On Ford's towing website they show a Maverick towing an Airstream Bambi.
Looking at the Bambi 2026 sales brochure they show 3 models the 16'-3", the 20'-7"and a 21'-11" Foot.
The 16' has a tongue weight of 475#, Base weight 3,150# & a GVWR of 3,500#.
The 20' has a tongue weight of 625#, Base weight 3,900# & a GVWR of 5,000#.
The 21' has a tongue weight of 525#, Base weight 3,850# & a GVWR of 5,000#.
All are above the recommended weights
According to my knowledge my truck has a tongue weight of 400#, Base weight 4,000# & a GVWR of ?#.
My second question is what is the difference between tongue weight for a travel trailer and pin weight on a 5th wheel?
Also looking at a Escape 5.0 fifth wheel trailer. It is 21'-2", It's made of fiberglass and has a pin weight of 646 #, dry weight of 3,500# and wet weight (fresh water both drainage tanks full, propane tanks etc.) 3,910 #, GVWR of 5,500 #
