Maverick Wait Vs. Uber Costs

XLT with XLT Luxury Package order placed 10/22/21.

I have been driving around my historic-tagged '97 F-150 as my commuter vehicle. As of today, however, it has been in the shop for 8 days and its future looks increasingly bleak.

I have spent $240 this week getting back and forth to work by Uber.

Do I abandon my vigil and seek a different vehicle, or do I stay the course?

That’s a question only you can answer.

I can say that even though I never considered it, my dealer was prepared to pay me not take the truck(s) when they came in.

Might be something to consider.

It took about 12 or so days for my truck to actually “be built” then from there it’s another 4 weeks till delivery. So just figure out if that’s too long for you

You can probably afford to buy another Maverick with what Uber will cost you waiting. How much are you willing to spend to drive a Maverick and is it worth it to you? I’d just catch the Maverick in a few years when the kink’s are worked out.

No build date, because that XLT luxury package is defined as "constrained," last time I checked.

Had an ETA for delivery from July 14 to the 20th. Call Ford and my local dealer, truck still showing in Hermosillo. Haven't gotten an email to say otherwise .

Is that Mexico? Either way that’s awful. Mine arrived 9 days earlier than expected

If I were to seek an alternative vehicle, does anyone have any recommendations on what to get or how to find it?

I recently bought an 06 Mercury Mariner hybrid (Mercury badged Escape), to get an idea of the hybrid experience. Now I bought the vehicle not running, so others would not be able to duplicate the price point ($1500). Normal pricing is $3000 - $5000, and most of those need work. It is recommended to get an 08-12 hybrid, as it is a better system.... I bought what I could find. At this point I am torn between driving this Mariner for another year (two years realistically), or placing an order next month (and waiting a year probably as what I want is pretty much every supply constrained option).
