I got mine without WAITING 3 years.
I win. 😂
I didn't wait 3 years either. I didn't want 1 until the year I bought it. You win I will concede since that seems to be your goal in all posts. The premise of "I got mine first" is quite childish but whatever.

Looking forward to learning more about the Fathom. An electric truck is interesting.

But it may not work for me. I plan on towing a small travel trailer, and doing so depletes
the battery and reduces the range. Same when carrying a heavy payload. At least that's
what I learned from reading the Rivian forums.

As they say time will tell.

I currently own a VW ID.4 and Hybrid Maverick. Considering swapping the ID.4 (getting old) for a new Fathom. EV's aren't the best roadtrip cars and most likely the Fathom will only be 2WD at that price so they are not apples to apple replacements for each other.

Towing a trailer depletes your Maverick's gas reducing its range. Cuts it right in half. And the range of your F-150. F-250. F-350....

Silverado EV pictured above could haul 12-foot lumber with no red flag; and 16-foot lumber with a red flag on the back of it.

But realistically, how many times a month do you haul 16-foot lumber?
Using the right tool for the job is a sign of intelligence. So is being judicial about what vehicle to own that will satisfy your most common needs for a vehicle, instead of buying one for a once-in-a-while function, like hauling 16' lumber once a year (or towing 1-2x a year).

I used to haul 16' several times a year in my Transit 250 (not Connect). I don't need to do that at the present, nor do I expect to in the near future. I'd put a flag on the end because it was 4' past the bumper (I could fit 12' lumber inside with the rear doors closed).

BUT, the mid gate design is cool for those of us who do myriad things with our vehicles so we don't have to have several vehicles around to complete different tasks.

You make a valid point but as a manufacturer I have to decide if the added cost and therefor price is justified on a model for 10% of buyer when I sell other vehicles that will fill their needs. The Fathom is not a truck for the contractor building houses.

yes, but the option of being able to haul longer items, or expand the bed length for other things such as camping with a camper shell, makes the choice more appealing, as long as the cost of production isn't much more. I'd love it if I could do this with the Maverick, and I would have paid extra for the capability.

I'm currently looking at roof top tents for an upcoming solo roadtrip. No, not a new fancy one to announce my financial viability; a cheap used one just to sleep in and set-up/stow faster than a ground tent. If it had a mid gate I would just get a camper shell and be done with it.

This is another reason why I'm eyeing the Telo over the Fathom and Slate for a future purchase. Mid gate. I'm probably not unique.

Living in a state where our second largest county is bigger than Massachusetts I think I’ll stick with something that isn’t all electric.

No interest in the Fathom here. Even if I was interested, I sure wouldn't buy one from the first 2-3 years of production given the growing pains the Maverick had early on. Having gone through 15+ recalls and all the hassles that came with the first year of a new model once, I would never do it again. Some other sucker can be the beta tester. :ROFLMAO:

yeah, Electric isn't the right tool for the job in Idaho. Unless you live in Boise and don't roadtrip much. Also, wait until you get saddled with all those broke counties in Oregon that want to be Idaho! Then you'll need something with giant tires to navigate all the unrepaired roads, cuz, no money left for infrastructure.

Have to see how towing that same trailer will reduce the Fathom's range.
What's the normal unladen range?

Cut that number in half.
Quite simple really.

The only case which you get slightly less than a 50% reduction is if you start out with something grossly overpowered and with pitifully low economy in the first place.

Smart (or experienced) people NEVER buy a first model year. Somehow, regardless of how much testing and development, first-year models always have tons of problems pop up. Maybe AI inclusion in the R&D will eliminate a lot of those problems, though. I'm patient enough to wait a few years for them to iron stuff out. I think there's only been one recall for my '24 Mav.

C'mon. Not a fair statement.

Virtually all the "recalls" have be software updates.

Virtually all early Mavericks were fully drivable the entire time.

No parts have been changed out in most of first year Mavericks. Even the airbag one was a "just incase" and you really didn't have to change it if you didn't want to.
